I’m looking forward to Wardley-Parker this weekend. That could be a great action fight potentially.

I am not trying to deny the significance of the fights listed, my point was that this year specifically we have had rather few fights that were genuine top contenders going at it.

What standard would that be... We've had some great fights this year, not only with the top talents of the sport but some up and coming talents as well. And the year isn't up. There are quite a few match ups in the next 2 months that worthy of boxing fans' attention.

This year we've had a fighter become a 3 division UNDISPUTED champion in the 4 belt era.....but that is overrated to you. I'm interested in knowing what year you feel meets your "standard" of a good year in boxing.

No, No, No,.....I was agreeing with what you said, just pointing out that it happens/has happened throughout history...... that's all.

I thought the fights were okay until recently, with the bigger issues on the business side. Especially in the U.S.

In America, not only have broadcasters abandoned the sport but now the promoters are on the way out as well.

I love the optimism and enthusiasm by some in here regarding 2025, I admit that Raidens list reminded me that this year wasnt quite as bad as I was thinking it was.... but even from his list, I think only about 7 of those fights did a lot for me in terms of significance. Compared to probably 25 or more in the UFC. Out of his list of upcoming attractions theres around 5 that Im interested in, compared to at least 10 in UFC.

Boxing will end the year with having around 12 or 13 fights I cared about spread out over the year. (Which is less than half of what UFC will)

    Idk to me boxings struggling.

Outside of heavyweight and light heavyweight, maybe super middle... I dont even have divisions I care about anymore because the landscape is either so uneventful or so obscure.

Just looked at one of boxings most premiere divisions, middleweight, and I only heard of 3 of its fighters. Only really seen clips of 1.
Look at the other premier boxing division, welterweight, and its almost an embarrassing division.

I know some of that (only knowing 3 guys at middle) is a testament to how closely Ive (not) been following the sport, but how closely Ive been following the sport is itself a reaction to the state of the sport itself.

I def could be wrong but for me Id say that outside of heavyweight and light heavyweight, this is the worst state boxings been in since Ive been a fan.

To be fair we got a lot of big fights in 2023/2024 so there wasn't too many super fights to make this year.
The biggest disappointment was the likes of Tank, Shakur, Teo and Haney not fighting one another. Will any of these guys ever fight each other? I get Tank is a lost cause and Teo Shakur is probably the most likely to eventually happen.

Agree about Canelo Crawford I was calling it a circus fight before it happened.
Canelo obviously didn't want to take on a serious threat like Benavidez so he figured he would be comfortable against the smaller Crawford and worse case scenario he will lose a decision and not get stopped.

2025 has been okay. Fury Usyk 2, Canelo Bud, we have Haney v Norman, Benavidez v Yarde, Inoue and Nakatani both fight again, Ortiz v Lubin...am interested in all those fights. Not best year but not worst either

I guess we got spoiled in 2023 and 2024 and maybe the recent slowdown and comparison has made it seem worse.

I do like Haney vs Norman and Benavidez vs Yarde
