    it's hard not to get squashed by 2 power-houses with superior armies if you're trying to rebuild a country that's been under ruskie, prusian and austrian rule for 123 years

    it took the krauts a month and help from Stalin to defeat Poland, the army of which was 3 times smaller and technologically weaker than the krauts had

    ok brah anyway those german army back then at their best was better than the world combined. I like the poles they work hard !

    a guy I know told me that when tourists came and dumped garbage in the bins they would collect the coke and 7up /fanta empty cans, these kids never seen so much colours like that- the empty cans were amazing to them , they didnt even know of the drinks :lol:

    Somewhat true.

    Lots of things were luxeries such as soda,chocolate,toys..etc.

    Several generations post WW2 grew up hardened by everyday life.

    For sure. Eastern germans I know say it was not so bad. The propaghanda about the west being "crazy" was similar to what western europe thought of the eastern block- kinda like some people think of North Korea today.
