I'm not talking about counting him out. All I say is that some ref's would have stopped Bute as he didn't know where he was and was taking flush punches without defending himself.

Some referee's would have, but most of them wouldn't with so little time left in the round. Remember the Chavez snr. vs Taylor 1 controversy? It would have been something like that, only in that case the ref would have stopped the defending champion wich is even more controversial.

Bute was just lucky, the referee did screw up but not enough to influence the outcome. Almost every other referee would have allowed Bute to continue and when the knockdown occured (at 2:54 I believe) Bute only had to rise on his feet within 10, wich he did.

Bute couldn´t stand on his feet.. he heaved himself up on the ropes and the ropes were the only thing which prevented him from falling down again.. thats not how you beat a count. he couldn´t even walk back into his corner under his own power etc..
Its total bs what these hardcore Bute nuthuggers try to implent into these rule.
Its like claiming Taylor was robbed against Abraham because his hands were off the canvans while the clock was running down and he was unconscious on his back but still tried to box
The referee is a disgrace plain and simple. He came so close Andrade couldn´t even throw hooks like he wanted before the knockdown etc that guy is a biased piece of **** and an embarrassment to the sport of boxing. he did everything he could do to protect Lucy

I think he's talking about Bute getting beaten up on before going down. In honesty he could have been ruled down at least 1 other time. He was getting knocked around the ring by Andrade. And we have certainly seen worse stoppages than that would have been.

As for his handling at the very end....I thought he handled it poorly and chose to focus on something arbitrary at such a critical juncture, but you're right....that didn't cost Andrade the fight. Bute was up by what would have been the 10 count and that's all that he needed to do.

I remember the Taylor-Chavez fight very well and consider that stoppage correct.

And yeah. Bute was lucky that he had the protection of the referee.

That is an assessment I can agree with. Given the circumstances Bute did what he have to do which was to get up before the referee said 10.

Yes it was.... read it again! You only had to rise, even if he would go down again it wouldn't matter... those are the IBF rules :nono
Bute was lucky it was under IBF rules!

He could have but to say he was out on his feet is completely false. Bute was completely exhausted but had all his head. Wright is a former professional boxer and knew that. Secondly, he is not Bute's personnal ref. In fact, he is a personnal friend of Howard Grant, Andrade's coach at the time.

That being said, I think it's a bad move to bring Wright back in a Bute fight. I was very surprised. All interbox needed was a good referee because Mendy can be dirty.

Wright choosing to stop his count is what made it look especially bad. Andrade was out of the corner, but not by all that much..... if I remember correctly, it took him 22 or 24 seconds to finally reach "10". Bute was up by the 8 or 9 second mark on the clock.....so it really didnt change the outcome of fight....but it made it look like he was up Bute's ass.

Whether he should have stopped it sooner is another question altogether. Tough call.

No... Even if you would get up, and (ridiculous example) fall down afterwards and be out for 15 minutes you still would have beaten the count.
This thread has been here many times and the rules are pretty clear on this one.

The only thing wich is a debate is; Should the referee have stopped the bout earlier, at the 19 seconds to go mark for instance with Bute wobbling trough the ring? The rest is perfectly covered by the rules.

Bute was up before 10 was reached probably like 7 or 8 Andrade charged freezing the refs count

a lot of ppl who dont like Bute just say Bute cheats or deserved to lose

when in reality Andrade was stupid and jumped the gun
