No fan dont want the fight to happen, but it wont happen before negotiations gets serious and they have not been serious for sure.
I agree with you about that, I already said it in my post on this thread (the 12th one) here it is: If I go to a car dealer and says "I want this car for 12 000$" when the tag on the car was 16 000$. Does it mean I lowball the dealer? No it means I offered him a price. Now the car dealer can either put another offer between 12k and 16k or just say it's 16k. But he will surely not ignore me as I didnt even talk to him. You dont think the offer from Bute is good, thats an opinion you have. But, it doesnt change the fact in this matter. If you remember the facts are: 1- Kessler said he want to fight Bute anywhere, anytime 2- He went to Montréal to see Bute fight and negociate with him 3- Bute's team gives him an offer 4- Kessler's team dont answer it 5- instead they make a tune up against an orthodox fighter ranked in the WBO 6- Kessler becomes mendatory to Steiglitz So the fact are Kessler's team (I dont mean the boxer, I mean the promoter) didnt want to go for Bute for whatever reasons they deem good. Dont put the fault now on Bute's team on this one, because Kessler's team did nothing to make it happen. Since then I didnt hear anything from what is happening between Kessler and Stieglitz. Last time I heard they were in for the purse bids and they were fighting about the venue. Since it goes to purse bids, Kessler will not make a lot of money. So you can claim that team Kessler wanted an easier way to claim a strap. No problem with that, but dont say anything about Bute lowball Kessler or the likes. So I agree with you, fans want this fight to happen, and before it can happen real negotiation needs to be done. And unfortunatly when team Kessler decide to go the orthodox route, they didnt show they were serious in making this fight happen.
Sauerland said they made a counteroffer. That offer might have been giving Bute the same deal for a fight in Copenhagen as Kessler got for facing Bute in Montreal ie. a lowball. So negotiations never became serious and Kessler looked for Stieglitz and Bute for Pavlik. In fairness I think the parties just felt each other out and decided that the timing was not now.
yeah. well...it would be even less of a first for a 60/40 split. in fact that split is quite generous to the challenger. let's be honest...the title of this thread says that kessler would get 750k...when the truth is that would be a downside guarantee & he would actually be getting closer to 3m (or more) & approx a 40/60 split as a challenger. i don't think i'm the one being the jerk. btw i am a fan of neither fighter. so i'm not biased here. altho i suspect you are. ok. then i don't understand how you can justify turning down a fight with bute to make less money fighting stieglitz. & i certainly don't see how you can justify it by describing the higher money offer as a "low-ball".
atsch When a contract is signed, there are conditions and stipulations involved that need to be respected by both parties. In this particular case, the 3 fight deal with Showtimes stipulates that Bute must only fight boxers from a list provided by Showtime. There's no going around that. They gave a free pass for Mendy and actually pressured Bute to do it so that the IBF wouldn't strip him of the belt. From now on, Bute must have his next 2 fights on Showtime, respecting a pre-determined selection of potential opponents in order of importance. 1- ...was Kessler but he ran away to a guy that even Andrade knocked the **** out. 2- ...was Pavlik that decided to opt out for no valid reason. 3- ...next will be Glenn Johnson that will surely accept the fight like a man and provide a great show. You've done your quality trolling for the day, you deserve a break Sir ButeTheMan....:hey
That's one of the rare truths spoken by Mr. Troll... They haven't been serious because Team Kessler never intended for them to be up to now and since actions speak louder than words....selecting Bouadla, a righty, instead of a Southpaw was all you needed to know...:deal
This 'challenger' you talk about is absolutely ridiculous. Belt or no belt, Bute needs Kessler far more than Kessler needs Bute. Kessler can get a belt if Interbox are so obsessed with belts and want to play challenger-champion... A very noob move From Interbox. They should have realized that Bute is the unproven one not Kessler... belts or not. Any way they are still playing in little league and should come to Copenhagen for some real money.
I and you know that big boxing fans dont care about belts. But it's not big boxing fans that pay for the fighters, its the casual. If what you said was true, why would fighter pay big sums of money to WBC, WBA, IBF for belts, super belt, diamond belt, etc...?
Just shows that showtime signed with a guy who never makes deals. When you are used to offering peanuts to journeymen you think others are unfair if they don't want to come to montreal for 'a little extra'. Interbox either lacks understanding of reality or they lack trust in Bute. btw. remember that Sauerland still has an option on Bute
He lives in Toronto.... he's just pissed that he can't drink past 1am in a bar and most likely has been denied some of our fine ***** after spending his last pay check just to touch some titties....
