    Tszyu? Kessler? Lacy?

By 'best' I mean most highly regarded/rated at the time they fought here and not best over their whole career, or name/most famous etc.

If anyone fancies it what would be the 'best since' chain going backwards to whoever you think was best ever UK import? (surely the 1951 Robinson 1951? or maybe Ali 1966? 1939 Armstrong, or whoever.)

eg Bute-Kessler?-Tszyu?-Barrera?-McClellan?-McCallum? etc, etc. (Probably forgotten someone as just off the top of my head.)

Also, is the quality of imports good enough? Personally I feel that the 80s was the last decade that we saw a healthy number of the world's best boxers over here despite promoters and certain pundits making out as if they're spoiling us. Or have the decades since been good enough in your opinion? If so what 'P4P' visitors have we had since back then? Or even top one or two from a division.

Certainly on performance but he wasn't really that highly regarded when he came here - mostly because he hadn't been tested and had a low profile.

Really I'm questioning promoters' ability in recent times to bring over the best from abroad.

Bute's the best since Kessler, IMO.

In the past 25 years, Marco Antonio Barrera, Azumah Nelson, Mike McCallum, Kostya Tszyu, Mark Breland and Gerald McClellan have been some of the stand-out names to compete over here.

In terms of bringing over the big names, it has never been as good since the Solomons days and it'll probably never reach that level again.

It's more to do with a complete unwillingness from the top American fighters to box abroad these days. Worse than I've ever known it in a bloody long time of following the sport.
