Prior to the Calzaghe fight, Hopkins beat Tarver more convincingly than Dawson just did

After the Calzaghe fight, Hopkins is whitewashing Bernard Hopkins

So did Joe still only win because Hopkins is washed up and shot?

Joe is the only fighter who has actually outsmarted Hopkins recently. He realized that Hopkins is nearly impossible to hit hard cleanly so he decided just to land shots rather than try to inflict a ton of damage, and keep Hopkins off balance and win based on workrate and scoring points. It was ugly, but it worked. He got into Hopkins' head and made him desperate, as was displayed by Hopkins desperate attempt to get a point deduction or DQ with the faked low blow

By the way, Joe would humiliate Pavlik

The KD was a flash KD, happens to great fighters from time to time (Ali vs Cooper etc). Calz was fine, got straight up.

    Whose nose was split? :think

Either way, YES - getting schooled for every minute of every round from the opening bell is MUCH more embarassing than a flash KD in the 1st round when you are still cold. :hi:

Top of Joe's nose was split.

Calzaghe wasn't out on his feet, obviously. But that's the most buzzed I've ever seen Calzaghe in his entire career.

Not bad a bad trick to pull in the first round when you're 40 plus god damned years old.

Calzaghe thought Hopkins was going to go into the clinch and got caught. It happens.

Calzaghe beat/faced a great fighter in Hopkins, and this is the proof. Sucks for Hopkins because Pavlik would have been EASY pickings.

Pavlik will not beat Calzaghe that's for sure.

But I don't think it makes much difference for Calzaghe's status.

    It's a styles thing.

Pavlik didnt have the style to capitalize on Hops age.

Calzaghe did. Hop won the early rounds and would have won every one a few years ago.

Is this some sort of joke? Hopkins didn't do **** in the Calzaghe fight. He would have completely owned Joe Calzaghe if he had. Tonight's performance was based on the gigantic lapse of the Calzaghe experience for Hopkins. Calzaghe got OWNED by Bernard Hopkins, Bernard just didn't put an exclamation point on it. Clue in.

Hopkins "owned" Calzaghe :rofl. Maybe for the first 180 seconds of the fight. Calzaghe won because his adjustments befuddled Hopkins and he got into his head

Unlike Pavlik, Tarver, Trinidad, even Taylor, Joe actually made adjustments during the fight and got Hopkins out of his comfort zone

Hopkins didn't fight like he did tonight against Calzaghe because he couldn't have. Calzaghe was in complete control of that fight from round 4 forward

I think exactly what I thougt the night Calzaghe barley beat a 43-year-old Hopkins:

Hopkins is 50-times the fighter Calzaghe will ever be.

Pavlik is to predictable, not even on Hopkin's level.

Calzaghe is to predicatble, Jones will make him look a fool.

Hopkins will be be avenging his loss in 2009, and it will be ****ing awesome.
