The only thing that changes is Bernard's resume - he now has a contentious spit decision against a prime or near prim p4p guy, and a clear win over a p4p guy - alll at 43 years old. God what would a prime RJJ, Toney or Hopkins done to Pavlik and seeing as this thead is about him.. Calzaghe....
Anyone who continues to doubt Calzaghe is a fool and has no credibility. The man has a high ring IQ and was able to adjust to Hopkins in the second half of thier fight. Against a guy in Hopkins who has a great ring IQ himself. That tells me everything i need to know. Pavlik is prime but he couldn't figure Hopkins out in a million years but Joe did. He's more skilled than Pac and didn't get a gift like Pac did against JMM he won't be outboxed or out-smarted in the ring he's #1 P4P in my book.
The only thing you've failed to acknowledge in your analysis is that Calzaghe himself has been past his prime for about 3 years now. I've not seen the true Calzaghe since the Lacy fight to be honest.
hopkins calzaghe 2 millenium stadium next year after joe cruises past RJJ to decide p4p - but then I wouldnt blame joe for retiring after RJJ to be honest, he beat hopkins already,,narrowly but the general majority consensus is he clearly outhustled him in the later rounds to win by a point or two
I say that Calzaghe beat Hopkins based on his natural hand speed and foot speed to put Hopkins in a defensive shell to out-hustle Hopkins. Not impressed still.
There is no doubt that Calzaghe even now past his prime would teach Pavlik a lesson as he did Lacy, Kessler was a far more difficult opponent than KP would be for JC.
that and the fact Calzaghe WOULD have a plan b, just need to watch the Kessler fight to see how he adjusts.
you forget JC is past prime aswell, just ashame those fights didnt happen when they were prime, and i dont wanna debate whose fault, annoys me that JC's career could have been so much better with better fights made years ago.
No, I'll tell you what's impressive. It is impressive that someone can categorically claim that Hopkins beat Calzaghe when all recorded history says the complete opposite. Now that's impressive.
You've taken a mauling in this thread with your utter stupidity, why don't you continue to entertain us with some more pearls of wisdom. Lacy got robbed in England, perhaps?
If Calzaghes' greatness has to rely on what Hopkins does, I find that slightly sad. Hopkins is still old and far from his prime, what he did tonight is a massive achievement. Calzaghe beat a great fighter in a close decision, but a far past his best Hopkins nonetheless.
Yup whereas Calzaghe thought up/adapted his own gameplan im sure i heard Pavliks corner telling him to try and do a calzaghe...........
