Nope. He didn't take the title in the first fight and in the second fight (which was an abortion) he lost as well. Getting the decision doesn't mean you got the fight. Isn't it interesting how Hopkins was able to throw enough punches to win against Tarver, Winky and Pavlik, but couldn't do so against Calzaghe? As for workrate: since that almost always goes down with age, isn't it amazing how Calzaghe was able to put up such a workrate in the twilight years of his career? Especially when one considers that (a) Calzaghe's hands have been shot for years and (b) Calzaghe's second best attribute is his handspeed, which has also faded with age? Doesn't that suggest that a prime Calzaghe would be a much tougher prospect for Hopkins, while the coming of age has been much less harsh on Hopkins?
Reid wass Calzaghe's best opponent until the Kessler fight. Reid could actually fight when he wanted to and he wanted to vs Calzaghe and he beat Calzaghe.
So you have no more arguments? Good. Also, Calzaghe is a lot like Jesus, if you think about it. Both have Supernatural power.
I cannot understand a word you're saying, could you please take that dildo out of your mouth when you speak to us?
the fact that joe had hopkins writhing around on the canvas, faking low shots and begging for timeouts due to his inability to overcome joes swarm only goes to cement how good a past prime and unfocused calzaghe really is,bring on jones.
So what you are saying is that Calzaghe has no skill at all and got by because he was faster and could throw more punches then the bums he was fighting???:good
No, Eubank, Mitchell and Lacy were better than Reid, at least when Calzaghe fought these respective boxers.
No. You are mistaken. Again. Calzaghe is very skilled, but that alone won't make you into a great boxer. What makes him an ATG is his unusual combination of brilliant handspeed, unworldly stamina AND excellent skills. It's just that, now, the first of the Holy Trinity have weakened with age.
Even though I thought it was close win, the fact that he beat Hopkins shows how special a fighter Joe Calzaghe is.
Exactly. Even a faded Calzaghe is still manifestedly better than one of the most elite boxers in the middleweight-lightheavyweight field.
