Alvarez is making it look like he'll only take on a worthy fight if the promise of a Mayweather payday, glamour, and fame is down the road.

The messed up part is Trout is much more accomplished than Alvarez, so he would be giving Saul a chance to legitimize himself.

I haven't seen a Mexican disregard the Mexican Azteca Warrior Culture to the extent Alvarez does. He's also the most popular boxer in Mexico. wtf

Watching boxing for a long time painted Mexicans as these tough and rugged warriors who will take on all comers no questions asked

Floyd should be fighting the WINNER of Canelo trout. What if Canelo loses to trout, he still lands a fight with Floyd? That's bull****.

This and only this. You get no guarantee because you're fighting someone you SHOULD fight. :verysad

I can't see why he suddenly must be seen as the wrong party here.

We've already seen that more people here would watch the PPV because of the Canelo vs Trout fight as watching a Floyd mismatch.
So when Alvarez demands to be Floyd's next opponent or he doesn't fight on his undercard filling Floyd's pockets, I'd say he's 100% in his right.
He has fought on Floyd's undercard a couple of times now, generating a huge amount of extra buys, and now he would even be the real main attraction, but he won't be paid as such.

As much as I'd like to see Alvarez vs Trout, I completely agree with him.
That fight should be the main fight on a card. It's bigger as Floyd vs Guerrero.

They just screwed up in this case, wich isn't Canelo's fault.

Thing is he's saying he's most likely NOT facing Trout. He's not saying he will fight him another date, he's saying he's most likely NOT facing him period. Big difference.

In a career full of fighting no hopers, the first time he's going to step up he starts back pedaling.

He might lose to Trout. There's no reason for him to get a guaranteed payday until he beats a legitimate fighter like Trout.

This is a blatant ***** move.

True, but the main issue stands.
Not wanting to fill Floyds pockets without getting something in return. :deal

Fight Trout, beat Trout, then worry about Floyd. This guy has fought literally no one and he wants the P4P PPV king served to him on a silver platter. What a joke.

Canelo does add buys. But Mayweather fights also give Canelo exposure he would not otherwise get. That's a much harder number to define, but definitely a tangible benefit.

Is Canelo to the point where he should capitalize a bit more? Probably. But that should come with a responsibility to take some risk.

I thought that was the main issue, but I believe if it was they wouldn't have said that bit about Trout potentially not being the opponent on his new date. No reason to say that unless your issue is fighting Trout, and not getting a big payday in return. I mean, not fighting Trout on another date isn't hurting Floyd, so it clearly wasn't a threat to Mayweather. They said that line for a reason. :yep

so Canelo thinks that fighting Trout under Floyd would be a bad business move?

shouldnt it be easy to realize that putting any kind of Floyd fight in jeopardy would be a WORSE business move?

like others have said, fight Trout and STFU. earn your way among ALL boxing fans and the fight will happen. but trying to call shots against the highest profile fighter in any sport is just flat out stupid dog.
