...........I continue to be impressed over time with the acumen of many of our members here, and the thirst for knowledge of others. I've seen some come in here just trying to get the basics down, and they've come out the other side quite well read indeed in a short period of time.

However.........there are always blind spots for us, fighters we hear of and mean to see more of, but haven't yet. Who in boxing history has escaped your attention thus far that you'd like to learn more about?

For me, among many others, there's........

    Vicente Saladbar (I mean Saldivar)
    Luis Rodriguez
    Barney Ross
    Jimmy McLarnin
Lionel Rose (I have a couple of his fights, but want to learn more)

McLarnin is a real great Sal, you'll love learning about him. Some of mine:

    Luis Estaba
    Gus Lesnevich
    Jack McAuliffe
    Edwin Rosario
    Antonio Margarito
    John Caldwell
    Tommy Gibbons

And I really want to learn more about Ad Wolgast, hard though.

...........Yeah, it should be fun; I'm also intrigued because he's one of the few greats fom this area of the world (about a two-hour drive north). I guess I can kill two birds with one stone and gets his fights with Ross. :think

Rosario shouldn't be a tough one for you. He's all over youtube.

It's the weirdest thing. He just has slipped through the cracks! SOmeone had a thread in General a few weeks back, multiple fantasy fights, make a pick etc., he was in one of them and I just couldn't make a pick. Don't know enough about the man.

Bramble is a GREAT performance. Also, if you ever get the chance watch his KO blow vs Viruet. Incredible compact sledgehammer. Ramirez II shows his good and bad too.

    For me:
    Eder Jofre
Kasao (sp?) Galaxy - I was aware of him in the 80's, was just stunned by his high ranking in rings 80. Can't see him being that high, but he must be worth watching.
    Nicolino Loche
    Lionel Rose

It seems like the 60's is kind of a forgotten decade.

Boss, thanks Sal. I have to go and do "things" now (don't know what this means, but the Mrs is sick of me being hungover) so I will look forward to seeing this later on. Anything in particular I should keep my eye out for?

I totally agree on Jofre, also Dulloi Loi should be named - Luigi told me a bit about him but well, there must be more. Locche seems to be an intersting fighter also. What about Marcel Cerdan? George Carpentier and Jimmy Wilde would be also interesting to hear about.

...........I've become pretty well-versed by now on Jofre and Galaxy, thanks to our own Raging B()ll. He sent me a truckload of Galaxy fights and to be honest..........I was underwhelmed. The record is there, and he certainly had stuff going for him (physical strength and power) but not much else in my opinion.

Jofre, on the other hand, was magnificent. Sadly, there's just not much out there. :( I have all that is known to be available, both Harada fights, the fist Joe Medel fight (one of the most exciting brawls you'll ever see, just fantastic), and highlights of their rematch.

Of Jofre, that's all there is to be had. :verysad

Was Edwin Rosario ever decked in his career? I know he sucked up a lot of punches from Chavez and Ramirez, and lost a few other times on tko, but I've missed it if he was ever actually knocked down. Anybody know? I would like to find out more about Harold Johnson, Eder Jofre, Fighting Harada and Maxie Rosenbloom to name but a few.
