    Was Edwin Rosario ever decked in his career? I know he sucked up a lot of punches from Chavez and Ramirez, and lost a few other times on tko, but I've missed it if he was ever actually knocked down. Anybody know? I would like to find out more about Harold Johnson, Eder Jofre, Fighting Harada and Maxie Rosenbloom to name but a few. Add to that Nicolino Locche and Dulio Loi.

    ............Good point; I mused about that very question here awhile back, and to my best recollection he was never floored. He'd get badly stunned and just stand there until the ref stepped in.

    It's odd, because he was never particularly hard to hurt if you could hit him, he just wouldn't fall down.

    There is a Jofre DVD out there that has some rare stuff on it. I posted it a while back. Jofre seems to be a smooth power hitter.

    RagingB()ll set me up with those Jofre fights as well...I really enjoyed all of them. I wish there was film of Jofre/Saldivar!!!

    Lionel Rose was born in 1948 in an Australian aboriginal settlement in Victoria. Lionel’s father was also a boxer. Rose saw boxing as an escape from poor living standards and won his first Australian amateur title (Flyweight) at just fifteen. After Lionel missed out on the Tokyo Olympics in 1964, he turned professional.

    Rose became the first aboriginal to win a world boxing title when won the Bantamweight title in 1968 from Fighting Harada (50-3-0) of Japan. Harada already had five successful title defences to his credit. Rose (27-2-0) dropped Harada to his knees in the 9th round with a short left to the chin, and from there he then opened himself up to more punishment. Rose won by majority points decision over the 15 rounds journey.

    Rose lost his Word title the next year to Mexican Ruben Oliveras (51-0-1) by KO in the 5th round. His best wins were against Vincente Garcia, Alan Rudkin, Cucho Castillo & Harada. Unfortunately, like many before him, Rose fought on well past his use-by-date.

    Rose was trained by Melbourne trainer Jack Rennie, who also trained Australia’s other great Bantamweight Paul Ferreri (78-13-5).
