Wide, too. Yeeeeeouch. That's an Eddie Chambers KO victim, ladies and gentlemen. atsch Maybe (hopefully) this is a sign that it's time to pack it in and enjoy the few remaining years of continence nature might see fit to allow? Go sit on a nice beach with a Mai Tai...lay down a blanket for Yory Boy, too...
7-5, 9-3, 9-3...yeah, I think even Ray has to see sense now. He's not been anywhere near Top 10 or even Top 20 for many years now, I think he has to call it a day. What's his financial situation like? Is that what's driving him?
Between this and the Kimbo circus, I'd say yeah it's safe to say he's pretty desperate. Rossy isn't even top 100, as far as I'm concerned...:verysad
Darn, that must have been positively thrilling. Forget Germany, those lucky Chinese get to see all the quality HW matchups.
---------------------------------------------------- Rossy defeats Mercer in Macau! Current New York State heavyweight titleholder Derric Rossy (18-1, 10 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over former WBO heavyweight champion "Merciless" Ray Mercer (35-7-1, 26 KOs) on Saturday night at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China. Rossy had Mercer in trouble several times during the fight, but Mercer came back to floor Rossy in the final round. "I was off balance and he hit me," said Rossy, "my hats off to this guy Ray Mercer could beat anybody in our division, he's tough and can hit like hell." The knockdown was too little, too late for Mercer, however, as Rossy came away victorious by scores of 117-111, 117-111, 115-113. The win earned Rossy the NABO, WBF, and WBC Asia titles. 6,000 plus where on hand for the event. "Don King and Bob Arum tried to bring Boxing here," said Sal Musumeci President and CEO of Final Forum Boxing. "Not only did we bring it here we leave here with a new champion with his eyes set on one of the world champions!" ---------------------------------------------------- Well, Ray did deck Rossey in the last round...but even so, with all due respect to Derric he's not a guy I would figure to beat even the Mercer of three or four years ago. Odd scorecards considering the KD...that would make the round scores 2-9-1 twice and 8-3-1.
Mercer can't afford to retire, he said it himself countless times. Why the hell do you think he got in the MMA? There was an interview on thesweetscience.com a while ago, he basically said he's got nothing left as far as money is concerned.
Did he get screwed over by his management or did he just **** away his own money? If it's his own lack of responsibility, then it's hard to have any sympathy for him. If it's like a Tua situation, that's different...
This is sad Mercer is completely shot, obviously can't compete with any first, second, or third tier heavyweights, and can't take a shot like he used to. But because of his financial problems, we'll probably see him in the ring again for the money. All too common with professional fighters
It was really a long ago, about 2006, I only remember something about having to pay for child maintenance (he's got a lot of kids) and other sad stuff.
**** financial, his brain has get too much damage..like some old runners, who get some kind of hormonal SATISFACTION of hard training.
