After his fighter got destroyed? He sure was a mouth piece leading up to the fight. Lockett looked like he was scared shitless after he took a few shots. And what is cool is that he has to throw the towel in which makes it even better cause he was saying how great his fighter was. He must have felt like a real douchebag after the fight.

he probably blamed lockett for not following his magical game plan, or said if the fight had continued for 12 rounds lockett would have ruined pavlik, in an echo of macca/haye

I hope the hype over enzo is finally over now - he's had one success, his son, and its joe's fighting instincts not enzo's insight that's done that

everyone know long before the fight that pumpkin head is a bum. It's hardly the first time a trainer had talked up his man.

how about when Bobby Gunn's trainer said 'he's the most vicious, more dangerous and destructive fighter since Dempsey...he's going to kill Maccarinelli'

but yeah, the Enzo hype should be over now.

I doubt he did!! of course he is going to talk up his fighter in the build up of the fight. enzo was screaming at lockett to stop letting pavlik tee of on him. He knew what the inevitable was going to be. He is still the proud father and trainer of a p4p two weight world champion, doubt he feels like a douchebag mate.

For **** sakes, WHo gives a **** what he said about him before the fight? What was he supposed to say?

"Yeah Lockett is decent, but nowhere near Kelly's class. I don't think he'll be able to handle the power and once he shows signs of folding I'll probably have to throw in the towel. This fight has missmatch written all over it to be honest with you."

he's probably saying what he said after Haye battered Maccarinelli....'it was a case of who landed the first biggie and Haye got lucky....Macca woulda retired him for good had it gone 12'
    :patsch

Man, you NAILED it with this post! Enzo thinks he's this boxing genius and his fighters lose because they don't listen to him. But he fails to realize that it's much, much easier to tell a guy how to fight than it is to actually get in there and fight yourself. I definitely agree about Joe being more a personal success than a result of some incredible coaching phenom created by his virtuoso-boxing coach father.

In the Calzaghe-Hopkins countdown you can see Joe just wishing his dad would shut the hell up after he started screaming about how his son was "P4P best fighter of all time." Joe's really damn good, but kindly shut up with that ****. Enzo wants people to think Joe is the best MORE so he can try to convince than he created the best than for accomplishments on his son's behalf. Joe would be better of without that little hobbit following him around trying to soak up the spotlight.

I'm surprised he didn't come out with the same line as after Enzo-Haye.

"He would of won if he hadn't of got knocked out".

    :huh

i honestly think the only reason he won awards last year is because gavin rees won a world title! to turn that little, fat , funeral rioting pikey into a world champ takes some doing!!

Lets face it Enzo knew Lockett stood **** all chance from day one but he can't very well come out and say it. As has been mentioned in this thread though, I think Joe wishes he would shut up at times and I've noticed more and more in recent years Warren and Joe grimacing at press conferences wondering what Enzo is gonna say next!
