I think Vitali is a good fighter and wouldnt quit just cause things dont go like he wants it, but you are right. He threw punches with his left, and you couldnt see any physical problem. I did a little research: It was the Musculus supraspinatus in Vitalis case. The muscle has the function to side flex the arm. So when the muscle is torn, you cannot do this movement without problems. Its a little bit more complicated, cause you also have other muscles who help doing that movement. That doesnt automatically mean you can throw a jab without pain. The muscle wont be used directly, but the tension of the muscle will of course change with all that complex movements in boxing.
Its more a question if you can stand the pain, and if its wise risking your whole career, and maybe risk beeing limitated for the rest of your life.

So... between the end of the last round and sitting on his stool, the pain suddenly got worse?

But he didn't have to do ANYTHING with that arm. All he had to do was not get KTFO by a light puncher for 3 rounds.

As has been stated already, PLENTY of fighters have fought the majority of a match with only one arm. Some of them even won.

Well, i wont judge him. On paper your right, but nobody knows how much pain his body produced in these moments. And im talking about his body, and not like others felt with this inury or shoulder injuries similary to torn rotator cuffs. Im also not sure whats harder: Go on or give up. If you go on fighting with such a inury everyone will tell you what a cool tough guy you are. And you will get compliments from everyone. If you give up, you get what Klitschko got. Everyone is calling you a coward. So whats harder? And he had a hard time to redeem himself. At least the majority does not see him as a coward since his fight with Lewis.

Jeff Lacy finished his fight against Tyspko and he won that fight.

I think pulling out of the fight, and saving his future in the ring, was the wise thing to do.

Had he continued and it gotten more severe, it obviously could have ruined his ring career, right then and there.

    Boo friggedy hoo.

You can't have it both ways. If he took the "smart" option by quitting I expect to stop hearing about what a warrior he is.

It's very possibly. The way he could of thrown a punch could of done damage, or Chris Byrd catching a punch and pushing back.

Or maybe the pain was severe for all that time and he couldn't deal with it anymore.

He tore his rotator cuff. Ive partially torn muslces connecting to my rotator cuff and that **** hurts like a *****.
