Gomez is the next one to show that there's some quality in The Contender... he did pretty well there vs. MWs and he's a WW who'll give a tough fight for Cotto before the champ lands a big body blow in the 8th... but a 12 rounder is possible as well.

You know it's hard to speak about the quality of The Contender... it's better to talk about the quality of the fighters. Soliman and Forbes were really good in their primes, Bika is a great brawler who has the tools and the awkward style to get a title in a weaker SMW division (maybe in the post-Calzaghe era if Kessler moves up).

So there are some quality fighters and there are some hyped fighters. But the whole show is pretty much in the limelight so when someone is referring to the show as a bums community is just can't see it's a reality show nothing more. Outside of it's rules, in the real 10 and 12 rounders, 6 weeks of training etc., every "Contender" has to show whether he's in the hype category or he has some potential in him... I think Gomez is better what most people think, unfortunalely for him he'll face a P4P-er and a monster... but if he can do more than a Quintana or an Abdullaev, he can say he's done better than a legitimate world champion and an olympic gold medallist... that's something I'm gonna repeat after his brave performance...
