Beat up a load of old men, not a significant win of note, awful defense reminded me of a puppet they way he jigged about. Let all the jokes in Mark Gastineau, Butterbean, Mickey Rouke and Tony Bellew
Yea Ali decided not to turn pro. He wasn't the greatest (or the best etc) Greatest is a Jimmy Greaves type.. instead of a Matt Le Tissier.
Give me some big names on naz's resume who he beat? You dumb brits would elect anyone to be in the hall of fame. You'd justify the Cntton brothers ricky and matthew to be in the hall of fame and ricky burns thats how desperate brit****s are for their fighters to be thought of as legends.
No, Sandy Saddler, Danny Lopez and Arguello are in a class above Naz as power punchers go at feather. I would place Naz in the next tier with guy's like Gomez, Sanchez, Mcgovern, Chacon and plenty others. Henry Armstrong is another. [/QUOTE]
Im not saying he doesn't deserve to be in HOF but I think the training thing was an excuse. Wasn't the first time, mate, and won't be the last. Plus I only saw the fight when it happened and if I remember it rightly it was more like 12 and 0. He seemed happy enough to go the distance in that one. Plus he beat some very good men,but some were slightly past best. Tom Johnson and KevinKelley 2 examples.
Based on every aspect of course Naz gets in, the guy unified a division. Completely dominated for years. Yes he lost to Barrera, big whoop. People that say he was destroyed by Barrera clearly never watched the fight. It was 7-5 or 8-4 at the absolute worst, hardly a huge margin. You can pick apart any world class fighters record and make a case for or against them getting in. Morales will get in without complaint, didnt he lose 6 or 7 fights in a row? De La Hoya was recently inducted, he lost a good few fights and a couple by stoppage yet no complaints there. (I love Oscar for the record). Naz is a slimy fat **** who destroyed a mans life when he smashed his car into his and left him for dead but boxing wise he was awesome.
yes sure... BUT in the long history of British boxing, there are at least 100 great fighters who should be in ahead of, or along with him!!!
For those who dont believe he should be in there, answer a simple question... MAB is an ATG right? Morales is his best win, whose the best fighter he beat outside Morales?
I totally agree with EVERYTHING you say in your last paragraph, mate. But if any one of the 2 should get in,it would be Morales every time for me. Naz gave up a title rather than fight a mexican whose name Ive forgotten, and I think he ducked Marquez rather than the other way round. Naz fans, don't all come at once. Morales carried on too long because,I think, its rougher in Mexican border towns than it is in Wincobank and he won't have made nearly as much money. AND gave an account against Danny Garcia. As said,he should be in the HOF,but he isn't among the best, like his conqueror.
he didn't duck him, he was fasting if i remember correctly and the sanctioning bodies were forcing him to fight, so he dropped the belt. as for Marquez, he was offered a career high payday at the time and he refused it for no apparent reason
