So, ESB, is Cotto over Margarito a foregone conclusion?

No way do I consider it a foregone conclusion. Just have noticed the majority of ESB seems to feel Cotto by demolition job is the easy choice.

    I'd like to see why.:bbb

Margarito is getting all this hype again off his victories against b-level-at-best cintron, who CAME STRAIGHT FORWARD in both fights. Cotto will have much more movement, and skill, and will destroy margo will his left hook to the body.

Cintron was hitting Margo quite frequently. Only Cintron would hit him and SURPRISE Margo wasn't going anywhere so Cintron would just sit there and let him hit him back. Cotto won't be expecting to take him out with one shot.

Precisely. All some fans, and I actually love this about boxing, need is one great (or what appears to be great) performance to get hyped on a fighter again. This happened with Margo after the first Cintron fight, then many were silenced after the Clotttey and Williams fight. Now, well it has happened again after the rematch with Cintron  :patsch

and cintron doesnt punch well in close. i think the number of punches margo will take to the body and the head will wear him down. his corner will have to stop the fight.

Do you think we'll see Cotto on the back foot much, like the 2nd half of the SSM fight? That **** was workin' quite well. Couple Cotto's power with an opponents forward momentum and Ka-Boom, hell-a-cious shots.

Me too, only because Margo doesn't fight for money or fame, just the strap - plus he's fearless and has nothing to lose, whereas Cotto has p4p status and an undefeated record to protect.

We can do a "location bet" meaning if I win you have to post something like "All Hail BewareofDawg the All-Mighty" or "I owe it all to my daddy BewareofDawg" :rofl Or just an avatar bet :deal

I think if Margo is successful in making it a dawg fight, then yes Cotto will start moving backwards and boxing like that. I think his gameplan will be to stand his ground and circle when necessary though. What I predict is Margo to start getting tentative about coming into range due to the constant jab in his face.

Cotto UD's him. Margo could catch him though and win the fight

I see Cotto having to work his ass off for this win but I think he does enough in each round to win them clearly. Cotto will win it 8 rounds to 4, or something like that.

 Sounds good to me my man, consider it "Game On" :deal

Ok, you taking Cotto by stoppage, I take Cotto by Decision, all other results void the bet, oh and Cotto knocking granite head down doesnt count :p :good

Nothing is ever a 100%, but people picking Margo are definitely 'off base', falling into the hype that he's better than he really is. Cotto has every advantage except for chin, but I will tell you that Margo can be hurt to the body and may get his ribs caved in here.

I wouldn't be surprised of a Cotto damage stoppage either, Marg bruises easily and has a total lack of defence.

Inside fighting favours Cotto, who carries a good high guard and has a decent defence in close, where as Marg would be smothered. Mid-range is where Marg would have his best chance, but again, Cotto's quicker and has a good enough defence to slip Marg's shots, which only do damage in accumulation.

So inside/outside, Marg has no advantages here, except for his chin and stamina, in which you would think his stamina would get worn down by the body work he's going to take from Cotto.

Can a guy with no defence, bad timing and generally sloppy 1 dimensional work really be logically favoured over a top P4P fighter? You think Ricardo Mayorga, only he also had very good speed to go along with KO power, which Margo doesn't have speed or top KO power, so it's a wash.
