He got paid a LOT to exploit a dumb ass who quickly made 3 bad decisions: quitting via headbutt, hugging and kissing, and looking at a blind ref after the first punch. He doesnt even deserve a rematch because in real man's world Floyd did nothing wrong.

Well if you have to protect yourself at all times I say that the next time Floyd turns his ****ing back when he is in trouble the other guy hits him in the back of the head so hard his spine ****ing breaks.

    Would that be fair too?

The for the king of turning your back yelling 'protect yourself at all times' is the height of ****ing hypocrisy.

Clearly Mayweather said something to to lure Ortiz in......... Thats how low live idiots do every night at bars all over the world - puts there arm around the opponent saying everything is ok - and then with out any warning club the other guy down. Its not fighting - its called assault and done in a cowardly maner......:-(

Jesus - Mayweather nearly clubbed a 70 year old senior, just because he didn't kissed his ass......:-(

lol do u honestly compare this to be the same?

pac's punch was in the heat of exchange while marquez still is holding the ropes. floyd meanwhile pretended to be exchanging taps and hugs and then sucker punched ortiz not only once but twice.

Do his job. And that was touch gloves and knock that scumbag out. That's what he did. Very good on his part.

Floyd was probably a little unhappy about being ***** butted and did what the rules allow. So what? Is he obliged to forgive a dumbass like Ortiz? Floyd could've probably stopped Mosley but since shane isnt a classless quitter like Ortiz Floyd eased up lil bit. Every situation is different.

    Maywether did nothing wrong.

The fight was on, and he landed punches.

All this touching gloves, apologies and hand shaking bull**** is a load of crap.
Of course, every fighter has a right to offer to touch gloves but he should also be aware that the fight is ON and "protect yourself at all times" still applies. The opponent may choose to touch gloves or not, or touch gloves and immediately follow up with a punch. And that is good. unless you want to see the two fighters touching gloves and hugging and kissing more than punching !

What's most pathetic in this case is that Ortiz was already fighting dirty.

Mayweather is a complete ***** outside the ring, IMO.
But he's a great professional inside it. And he did a professional job. :good

This thread focuses too heavily on the fighters, not the referee (who is the one guilty of spoiling the fight).

In the post fight analysis, Steve Bunce demonstrates how Cortez calls to "box" but doesn't call for "time in." Ortiz, was quite clearly confused, Mayweather wasn't and proceeded to KO Victor.

Cortez didnt even walk over to see if Floyd was fit to continue. The foul was horrendous, could possibly have caused some serious damage and required due attention from the referee in order to prevent retaliation, ensure the well being of Floyd and CLEARLY call the fight back in.

Cortez wasn't even looking at the fighters when he apparantly "called" the fight back on, he was staring at the ringside officials.

Illegal head butt, yes, protect yourself at all times, yes.

However the fact remains Mayweather didn't KO Ortiz in a shootout or with a counter, he KO'd him when he wasn't looking and he knew it. It was the hardest punch he threw all night. It's poor sportsmanship and he didn't need to do it.

im n ot complaining abaout the legality of it, it was a legit knockout, on the otherhand I think he should have waited as Cortez was way out of position, wasn't watching what was happening and Ortiz was waiting on him.

I agree if you get hit once though either get your hands up or box on.

Just think Floyd should have waited, he would have knocked him out anyway without the controversy
