Umm you are countering points I have not attempted to make regarding athleticism, you've left out the part of the post where I attributed to at technical error, not a physical decline, also I meant the Werdum not Nog, typing error. Im not going over the same points again, you either understand them or you dont
A great champion is someone that can come back from defeat and perform at the highest level again. Fedor lost for the 1st time against Werdum (not counting the cut defeat earlier in career) and was unable to effectively come back, he got totalled mauled by big foot and was too eager against Hendo. Untill he comes back with some big victories then he's not GOAT................ 35yrs old isn't over the hill btw Smoke my Johnson Stoop :rasta
Yeah that told me Beaver.......it's not like I spent the last page saying that these losses hurt his legacy is it...... Thank you for your views and participation in this thread
I think he's tarnished his legacy a bit in his last few fights. He still be considered the GOAT though but it's now up for debate.
Nope, you didn't say that. You said he would win, like it's a given. That's an entirely different thing. Exactly. And that is much worse. He shouldn't be LOSING composure and technical skill as his career goes on. ESPECIALLY not with the sport exploding in popularity all around him. He should have been training with the best guys, but he refused to adapt even as everything around him was changing. The sport evolved, but Fedor regressed. No argument there. Unfortunately the sport is bigger than one 5 year span of one division. And I say 5 year span because Fedor wasn't really up to **** all for the last 6, 7 years. He has a great run for a few years, but the Big Nog and Cro Cop fights are not sufficient to have him be the GOAT indefinately. And the 3 consecutive stoppage losses (one sub, one brutal beatdown, one clean KO) really hurt his legacy, because two out of three of them were fights that he not only COULD have won, but SHOULD have won. So you see the problem. Beating JDS and Overeem would put Cain on a similar level as the GOAT across all times and all divisions? Really? And if Brock manages to beat Overeem, then Cain won't even need to fight Overeem. If he beats JDS, he'll have his wins over the #2 and #3 guys already. :hat
i would say fedor and gsp are already better then fedor, looks like jones will be better then them 2, we will know after another 5 or so fights
I voted Yes Definitely. My reason: If Anderson and GSP retired tomorrow, I'd still rank Fedor 1st. However, I think they are both within touching distance, so it depends on what they do between now and the end of their careers. And it seems as if Jon Jones may join that elite group within the next few years as well.
Could they do it with out moving up, or fighting each in your opinion. They are now lapping the division after cleaning it out and there seems to be no Jon Jones type young contender there to fight for either as well at WW & MW respectively?
