So Fitzsimmons gets destroyed 2x by Jeffries yet he has a shot vs Louis and Marciano?

Or did he just have a wider rib cage and wing span? Playing the stats game you could find a WW who had a 'considerably bigger upper body than Marciano's' it doesn't mean it was as mucularly thick or strong up top or through his chain

 

it almost dosnt seem logical that marciano weighed 20 lbs more.

i agree with the above, its probly all the breathing exercises that fitzsimmons would do that made his chest so big.

48 inches, but a good bit of that is probly just hot air.

I agree, measurements only tell us size.

 

If the tale of the tape is correct, I for one have a hard time believing Fitz was only 165 pounds. In the second fight, I believe Jeffries simply laughed at Fitz weight saying if he's 170, put me down for 144. Something like that.

Fitz had very little body fat. He was a shrink wrapped pound for pound type of fighter.

 

well looking at the measurements he was quite lanky with little mass on his legs and arms with all his weight on his core and back giving the appearence that he was much bigger then he actually weighed.

though it is fitz's own book so the measurements might be skewed alittle, but i dont doubt he was 165-167 ish.

Obviously Fitz had a huge upper back, that would account for a large chest measurement.

None of which holds has even a slightest relevance to his chances in a fight with anyone.

The implication of Jeffries' statement is what ?
That Fitz is as heavy - or almost as heavy - as himself ??

 

Marciano's chest was 40 inches, an inch smaller than Fitz's. Fitz had skinny legs but his arms ,particularly his fore arms were very respectable.
