I'm sure he sees it as low risk/high reward fight as he can easily outslick Ortiz that is so highly regarded at the moment. I guess he plans to finally take the fight with Manny and probably all the wait is paying off as Pac seems to finally show the signs of being battleworn/over the hill.

At this point I think Pac should retire though. Floyd proved he doesn't care about the sport in the slightest by refusing fans to see one of the biggest fights in recent decades when there was the best time for it. Now - he can **** off for all I care :smoke Do you guys still care for this fight?

Floyd is like Sugar Ray Robinson. You'll never know when either guy will fight until you can actually get them to step into the ring.

i don't believe it until it's officially announced. GBP pulled something like this already with Canelo. they were using Floyd's name to hype up their fighter and spread rumours about a potential fight

I think it will happen. Ortiz is the type of fighter Mayweather is not afraid of much. And it puts eventual fight with Pac in at least a year perspective so he still can feel fairly safe :hey He will also be able to say that he DID come back to fight Manny in case Manny retired. It's an attractive fight for both, I can see both genuinely trying to pursue it.

Another performance from Pacquiao like that and Roach will not be putting him in with Mayweather thats for sure !!!

I dont think Floyd will ever fight Pacquiao , he can fight along side him with decent ranked guys like Marquez , Mosley , Ortiz etc etc and still make very very good money while still claiming he's the best in the world and Manny wont take the tests :deal , its predictable and boring now , im resigned to the fact there never gonna fight , Pacquiao has 2 fights left max , Mayweather could pop in and out of semi retirement until he's 38 no problem .

Look for Mayweather Khan to happen (if Khan does somehow manage to avoid defeat against Bradley) before Pacquiao Mayweather

    Good post.

Would only add that if Floyd will come to the conclusion that Manny is really on the decline, he might want to "call him out" then. :verysad

Was there an announcement this weekend? Rumors said to be one and Ortiz said in an interview the fight is being worked out. Has Floyd said anything on this fight before or during the weekend?

Ortiz said that it's "almost done" apparently. No new announcment so far though, not that I know off anyway - I searched some sites just now.

If this Ortiz fight won't push through, then Floyd is really gay.
And should be ban in this sport for good.

    It's obviously going to happen.

Mayweather-Ortiz is all but confirmed now.
