Just asking cause I see threads negating the legitimacy of catchweight fights all the time on this forum. For instance many argue Floyd-Canelo don't count cause it was a catchweight. And there are too many threads mocking Cotto for catchweight fights with Martinez and now Geale.

To rewind Floyd-Marquez was not a catchweight fight. The fake weight was removed and it became a real welter fight. A lightweight moved up and challenged a welterweight, just like in the old times!

So why are there so many of you complaining about Floyd's win over Marquez? You hate catchweights right? All I ask is that you be consistent with your argument or better yet emotions.

Marquez was dragged up 2 weight classes and on top of that, Floyd cheated the scales and paid a price for the advantage.

Marquez was paid $300,000 to shut up about Mayweather failing to make the Catchweight requested. They covered up this story so well, that very few actually remember what the Catchweight was.

Marquez was fighting at 126 when he was 30 years old.

He did NOT have the a Welterweight frame. Not even close to it.

Fighting a guy who is jumping up 2 weights classes and not even making weight against him is a JOKE lol

Marquez never even had a fight at the weight class

Floyd made a very good point in a hilarious interview with Brian Kenny, he said, so if he came back out of retirement and fought Pacquiao, who had JUST FOUGHT Marquez, people would not have a problem with the weights unless Floyd beat him easily.

I'm asking a question, I didn't ask your advice on weight making and if in your opinion he was better at the weight then... I asked for the weight.

“Like I said before, I’ve never fought a guy at a catchweight. I don’t fight guys at catchweights. I don’t plaster my gloves. These are things I don’t do, because I’m not that type of guy.”

"I would never want to put a fighter in a position where he's not comfortable. I want a guy when he's at his best. If he's at his best at 154 and he's strong and he's solid, then that's the fight we're fighting at. I walk around at 150, but at the end of the day - skills pay the bills.... Give me the guys where they are comfortable at their weight so there are no excuses"

"De La Hoya - Pacquiao fights him at a catchweight. Cotto - he fights him at a catchweight. When I fought De La Hoya I said 'give him to me at 154'. With Cotto - 'give him to me at 154'. Give me the guys where they are comfortable with their weight so there are no excuses"

''I look at Miguel Cotto as an undefeated fighter. He faced Pacquiao, but Pacquiao caught him at a catchweight. It wasn’t the best Miguel Cotto. He was drained; he wasn’t hydrated. Antonio Margarito was a guy who was cheating. I want him [Cotto] to be comfortable, to feel good when we meet to go into battle. I don’t want no excuses. So I’m going to go in there and be Floyd Mayweather. I’ve been there before and I know what it takes.”

Still butt hurt about May 2nd. I'll give you some weights.
    Floyd 149 lbs
    Manny152 lbs
Guess which fight this was. The "Mismatch of the Century".
48-0 and still going. Deal with it. JMMand Canelo didn't care about the weight because they wanted the money. Both want to still fight him to this day. no one proposed to Mannys catchweight fights that they'll fight at a CW like Canelo did and JMM of course wanted a payday. So please stop reaching and move on.
