So Floyd Paid Maidana to Not Wear His Special Gloves??

It was reported that Maidana was paid $1.5 million. If that is incorrect, then it just shows that ESPN and other reputable news agencies were reporting it wrong. We as fans are just going by what the news outlets report. If they report stuff that isn't factual, then that's on them, not fans for discussing it.

I'm glad Maidana finally addressed that issue, but even without being paid extra money, there was still a dispute with the gloves and Maidana was apparently forced to wear Mayweather's gloves.

And when it comes to the catchweight vs Canelo, there was a money incentive, so it's not unreasonable for fans to be skeptical of TMT when it comes to shady behind the scenes deals to give Floyd advantages in the ring!

 

Where is the link on ESPN? All I see are a bunch of forum "experts" and forum hearsay saying ESPN was told this but where is the actual link on ESPN story that Floyd paid $1.5 million? What reputable sources?

 

That's all I've seen too. I like how guys make up reputable sources and ESPN when all I can find on google are the usual forum haters posts.

 

That number was thrown around all over the internet after that fight. At one time there might have been an ESPN link, or someone at ESPN reported it. I have no idea who actually started the rumor of $1.5 million was paid, but again that's bound to happen after the Canelo catchweight fiasco, then a dispute over gloves where Floyd 'apparently' forced Maidana to wear his gloves. I'm glad Maidana confirmed that there being money involved in the glove change was a rumor, but having to use Mayweather's gloves wasn't a rumor and it obviously bothered Maidana and is still unresolved.

 

You said ESPN and other reputable sources. Just need a few reputable sources at the level of ESPN. Obviously several citations would lend it more credibility. Google just returns the usual forum BS posts about some guy and his source who said his source told him about some source telling ESPN ...

 

IF ESPN and other reputable sources put out inaccurate information, that is on them not the fans for talking about it. I do not know where that $1.5 million pay off rumor started, and coming off the Canelo catchweight "pay-off" which was an actual proven pay-off to weight drain Canelo, it is not unreasonable to expect fans to jump to conclusions when they hear a rumor like that. What isn't a rumor was that Maidana wasn't able to use his commission-approved gloves and was forced to use Mayweather approved gloves. That's all we really know.

with suspicious gloves. The commission didn't detect anything until someone on Mayweather's team caught it, just like Naz and Margarito. What's the comission guy making; $200 for his time? All it takes is a few thousand dollars and who knows what "approved" Maidana gloves would be wearing.

 

First of all, we know it's not like Margarito because Margarito was caught by the commission for having rock hard "padding" in his glove instead of the the regular padding.

All we know is that Mayweather said that there was no padding in Maidana's gloves. Not the commission, but Mayweather himself. This is the same guy who wanted the public to believe that it was Canelo who requested the catchweight.

There is no evidence or accusation that Mayweather or the commission has made that stated that Madiana was caught cheating. You are making assumptions while I'm just trying to figure out what happened. Also, if in fact TMT inspected Maidana's glove and it was found to have no padding "at all", which is hard to believe frankly, it is unclear why Maidana was unable to use his backup gloves, why he was forced to use Mayweather's gloves.

The whole thing is a bunch of he said / she said. My question to you is how can you be so sure you can trust what Mayweather is saying. This is the guy who all but accused Pacquiao of taking roids and using that as an excuse not to fight him. Talk about hearsay!
