I really hope this fight happens. But if it doesn't it won't be that bad since I see Jacobs, Saunders, and Eubank as bigger H2H tests than Canelo. Regardless. it's sad that the future of this bout is looking dim.

It will be between 155-157 bank on that.

Even Hopkins had the ba11s to go down to 156 for Oscar De La Hoya.

    no im actually not alex

i just dont think its cool to toil in a weak division and hide behind some dream to unify while being told yer the best ever

while you chase big money fights at 168 but avoid the best there

i dont think its cool...im pretty rational actually ......its not my fault you cant see what lil g is doing

    Yep. They are overreacting. :good

I get that it's big news and it's good for the board to have lively discussions and whatnot, but this is like talking about the end of a movie that it turns out has a part 2 yet to be seen. No need to overreact on either side yet. Canelo's too smart to commit career suicide- his fans can handle a loss. His marketability won't handle the impression that he's a ducker. Look at how he gets paid- a significant part of his income is the exclusive deal to air his fights in Mexico he auctions off every few fights to the highest bidder. That's why he gives more generous splits off of the U.S. PPV sales. His image matters moreso than the sparkling record.

If anything, him vacating the title has put more pressure on each side to get the fight made. Not less.

This isn't lost on either party, which is why they're still trying to hammer out a deal.

guess who allowed those catchweight fights?

lil g! the guy who was the top contender for that belt for almost two years! he allowed those fights! why? because he wanted to take the belt off one of those welterweights!

Golovkin is now the supreme, undisputed champion of the MW division.

Why don't you step up and challenge him at 160? GGG got the belt he deserved, the stain is on the Chicken. Hopefully there will be good fighters, with *****, who'll step up and challenge Golovkin. After all there's fame, money and three belts up for grabs! Any fighter, worthy of being called a boxer, should be ready to fight for all this. One fight and you could be world famous, millionaire and lineal world champ!

I agree. This looks bad on Alvarez right now and its easy to start criticizing him but I'll wait to see if the fight actually happens or not first.
