I hope this isn't true! That ship sailed a long time ago when jr ate himself out of 160.

I'd call his wins over Ishe Smith & Sergio Mora decent names on his resume as well.

I really think he will start fighting everyone once he gets BJS' belt. Even move up if needed.

Canelo has already shown he doesn't want the fight so leave him alone. GBP offer is just that an offer GGG is wasting his time chasing a guy he said he didn't want to fight and that clearly doesn't want to fight him. Also a ton of people in boxing think Jacobs deserves more than what GGG is offering? That's the good thing about a deal you can walk away and you get to set your worth. Jacobs is his mando he doesn't deserve a huge bump but a decent since GGG isn't exactly a draw himself. If we are in talks and not at the purse bid which mandates 25% to Jacobs doesn't that mean he could offer a much better split?!? That just seems logical he's getting old he needs to stop bsing around he dodged Ward **** what you are saying.

Not a ggg hater here, actually I am a fan. I'll side with whatever get the fights done. Hate to see ggg wasted his career at the negotiating table and chasing pay day that might not be there.

Jacobs can box a little bit and has very good power. That in itself makes him at the least more dangerous than anyone GGG has faced so far, if not a better fighter. It's not a fight I would be all that excited anyway.

Cowardice just doesn't come into it imo, wanting good money to fight a very damaging puncher is not an outlandish thing. If his team is that desperate to have him go up against the best, then they would be willing to offer a little more money to make it happen, or move up and face the guys there, many of whom without doubt would be more than willing to get in the ring with him with profit for everybody. But they're just making risk/reward business decisions like everyone else, and probably staying around 160 hoping for the big money Canelo fight, and as a result 2016 was totally wasted for him as far as legacy is concerned (but did well financially in the Brook fight, which was extremely low risk). I'm a fan of GGG and think he's obviously the best at 160lbs, but he's not getting any younger, and it's a shame that there's a good chance we won't see him in any 50/50 fights until he's gotten a little over the hill. But, he wants to make as much money possible like everyone else, which is fair enough.

Real question, how is the WBA middleweight Championship a fake belt?

As a GGG fan I would like this to go purse bid, and Big Al to win it. But its because I want GGG vs Jacobs to be shown on PBC, on cable, and not on Showtime. I know the chances are close to zero, but I can dream. I like PBC and its reach. They just lack some stars-names.

And I think GGG's drawing power is proven. Considering he started to fight in the US only 4 years ago, and he sold out already NY and LA.
And bring him to TX and you'll get a full house too.

Not many boxers can do that, thats for sure.

Why would you hope that? That's just weird. I hope the fight's made and I don't care how, but If GGG vacates it probably just means he has an HBO contract and they won't let him out of it.

Would you think I was weird if I said 'I hope the purse bid is low and Jacobs passes on his mandatory because it'll prove he ain't about the boxing'? Fuq kinda boxing fan even thinks like that?

What ton of people? Jacobs can insist on any purse he wants but it has to based on realistic standards.

Dodges Ward...a guy who wasn't even able to fight for the longest time, and came back at lthw. Yeah, that makes a tone of sense, even though 3G always said his goal is to unify.

Maybe Jacobs does deserve more, but he's the challenger. If he wins, that all changes. But hiding behind money is not the way to go.

Ok your clearly a rookie. I'll answer

Because the "regular" title doesnt give anything EXCEPT the " right" to pay sanctioning fees to the organization.
PLUS as a regular belt holder you're treated as a NO 1 CONTENDER by the organization, thus the 75-25 split in favour of the champ, who they call " Superchampion", who also pays sanctioningfees .
And that was the scheme, the wba was in dire need of money, and they invented this clusterf×××k

    Hope u understand

Wouldn't be bothered at all, I like GGG one of the few fighters I actually pay money to watch. But at the end of the day I'm a fan of boxing and not just him. I call a spade a spade, Loma moved up Kov took on Ward... we are still watching for GGG. All everyone says is he's the most dodged. Then why won't you guys ask him to move up? Why is it when Floyd picks shitty opponents that won't challenge him he's crucified. But GGG can stay in his division and make smaller guys come up. I still remember people asking and begging Floyd to go up yet again and fight GGG that was okay but asking GGG to go up one weight class is a ****in crime against God himself... like Ward GGG is overestimating his worth.

Fair enough post. I really tire of the whole risk/reward debate. It's not that I don't understand it, just that if a guy is getting paid very good money to face sub-par opponents, then of course he'll demand an even bigger purse for a challenge. I know for a fact that when facing someone like Mora again, an unranked MW, Jacobs didn't ask for peanuts.

What are you complaining about? GGG beat some scrub named Milton Nunez to win the WBA interim title, and Nilton Julio tapia for the regular title... WTF are they?
