Champion makes the belt, the belt doesn't make champion. I don't really care how many time somebody defended the belt. It's who you defended it from and who you got the belt from initially.

Perfectly stated Lance....even the part describing Dino's personality and knowledge of the sport, but admitting that even a broken clock is right twice a day. LMAO.

As for GGG's belt being the legitimate title, and discernment as to how far we go back, my opinion is that when Universum first paid him 50K to allow Sturm to swerve him the first time, then him being blackballed by his own promotional company when they refused to pay his sanctioning fees for his WBA eliminator fight with Malik Dziarra then feeding Sturm a prospect named Sato instead of GGG......this ISH goes way the F back to 2009.

So, IMHO, Sturm should have been STRIPPED of his WBA MW title in 09, allowing #1 GGG and #2 Martin Murray to fight for it and force them to fight Sturm immediately thereafter.

It's sad that GGG has had to fight his way into mandatory status time and time and time again, only to have the ABCs bought off soas their titlists could hide from GGG.
Those titlists who ducked GGG as the #1, the interim/minor titlist for their ABC, or career payday unification are Sturm, Martinez, Chavez Jr, Cotto, Yeller CanelHOE, Geale, Barker, NDam, Quillin, Soliman, Taylor, (Jacobs?), BJS, Lee(though he looks up to task should Jacobs duck, but only after his title was taken, and Pirog, though unlike the others, he had a genuine excuse.

    WTF is this????
So Vitali got his title beating Kirk Johnson, and his finest defense was taking it back from Peter. Does it invalidate him as a great champion????
GGG won his title against Milton Nunez and his best defense is likely his unification with Lemiuex or Kell Brook boldly doing what about a dozen of the best MWs of the past 10 yrs were petrified to do.

GTFOH with that line of thought.

A fighter can only beat who dares to step over the ropes into the ring with him. And a Champion can only defend his titles vs the boldest and hungriest fighters in or around his weight class.

Do not go where your trying.

Martin Murray was ROBBED of both his WBA and WBC titles by boxings corruption, and Golovkin wiped the floor with him and in doing so, proved to the world that he's the WBA, WBC, and now IBF MWCoTW.

Where's Pirog, NDam, Quillin, Lee and BJS. The MW Champion of the World wants his other accessory so he can move up town and start taking the titles at 168 and 175.

Ggg was not deemed a champion the first time he got the title cause he didn't get it from a worthy belt holder. He is now as he is defended it so many times and regarded by the boxing community as the man in the middleweight division. In a sense ggg makes his belt a champion's belt. If somebody is to beat ggg, that person will be a champion.
Danny Jacobs for example holds a belt, but it doesn't makes him a champion in people's eyes. I know we are taking semantics here.

K2s offer is near 35%. More than 150% more than his career high payday vs Quillin.

Life changing money and the potential to be called the best MW of a generation.

    It's just over 1/3 of 5 million.
    Initial offer was 1.5 million.
    Jacobs wanted 2.5 million.
WBA allowed extension. Jacobs asked for 40%.
K2 threw an extra 150K towards Jacobs.
Jacobs still wants no less than 2 million.

K2 doesnt want to ask HBO for more $$$ for this fight b/c they want to unify with BJS in the summer on HBO PPV and are in financial conflict with the Cotto fight as of now, and need to ask for a reasonable sum to air the fight so they can outbid GBP in buying the WBO belt. K2 wants to come strong at 3.5 mil to BJS so he won't take GBPs 10% PPV split which would net him close to 3 mil with upside.

BJS knows he can't KO Yeller CanelHOE, and knows if he outboxes him 12 rds nil, he'll hear judges %$#^%$ scores the contest 114-114 a draw, overruled by judges %$%$^% and ^&%*&%^ who score both score the contest 115-113 to your winner, and NEW, WBO MWCotW.........EL ROJO POLLO, SAAAUUULLLLL PINCHA CABRON, YELLERCANELHOE......AL Var ez.

why take a robbery loss for 3 mil vs a guy who has repeatedly gone after the biggest money easiest titlists when you can make an extra 500K, a lifetime of luxury for a traveller, and know that you lost, but can hold your head high b/c only the very best of this generation could beat you.

    My point was....and IS....

Milton, China Chinned but iron fisted Nunez had less fear than did Felix Sturm and ODLH(Sturms US promoter at that time)
The WBA had no choice in creating that fight for GGG as Klimas was prepared to sue both the WBA and Universum/GBP for allowing Sturm to sidestep him repeatedly.

Yeah, semantics.....but when the #1 is swerved illegally, and it's universally known, you start counting defenses as a fan, and even if you're a hater.

Burt Sugar is rolling in his grave knowing that Golvkin has been ducked so unilaterally and internationally.

Froch. Wembley Stadium. 100K in attendance and 50% of a guaranteed million buys on SKY and a huge HBOCB split. Likely close to 15 million bucks.
Chavez Jr. Dallas Stadium. 60K fans. HBO PPV with TR footing the bill and guaranteeing $8 million.
Who else has GGG expressed interest in outside of Floyd and I don't think I need to address his willingness to concede to 152-154lbs vs Mayweather. 2 million buys. Even at 10% he'd earn no less than 20 mil.

Andre Ward. Begs Ward. Begs Ward. Begs Ward for a 50/50 fight for 3 yrs.
Ward chooses instead to fight the corpse of Glass Dawson.
Ward enters limbo for almost 2 yrs and finally signs with Roc and talks re-establish.
GGG becomes the top name in boxing to world.
Sees ATGness in his legacy if he can lure the top 10s continually into the ring while collecting all the titles to become the first ever ABCDE MWCoTW.
So, while awaiting Yeller CanelHOE and CottHOE to fight over HIS title, his teams says 50/50 at 164. VADA, and 180lb rehydration clause.
55/45 A side GGG. VADA and 180 rehydration clause.
60/40 A side GGG to come to 168 VADA and rehydration clause.
OR......ROC can pay him 8 mil, VADA only for GGG, and no rehydration clause.

Wards counter. No vada. No rehydration clause. 50/50 in my town, my judges, my ref, and my commissioning body.

"I mean if you can justify that then I need you to send me some of whatever your smoking"

Hindsight 20/20, but K2 should look at Kovalevs robbery and be thankful they didnt concede. He'd have scored a KO3 only to lose by DQ when the punch to the jaw that stops Ward isnt counted because the ref was readying himself to ask Ward to break when he clinched GGG.

I might me be inclined to agree except when you look at how Golovkin has the middleweight division on toast and to see how they all Go about there business in that division in avoiding GGG is where they all make themselves look like cowards is hilarious as they're hoping GGG ages and looks vulnerable lol...I've never seen anything like it so to hold up GGGs record for not facing any of the so called better guys who've ducked him at every turn is totally unreasonable?

I am not counting number of defenses, and with so many trinkets around and title change hands outside the ring, who can actually keep up. Ggg is the middleweight champion, the rest are belt holders
