Not only for the money, but also because of his failed drug tests. The best way to put that behind him is to beat GGG in September with full VADA testing. Then no one can claim he was cheating for the first fight. All this means that Canelo needs to pay a bit more to get the rematch, but either GGG overestimated the effect when asking for 50-50, or he's just very angry.

I think it will be either Spike or GGG, I'll reconsider my view of Canelo if he actually fights Jacobs in September.

You guys still don't get it. If I'm not mistaken only one party rescinded their demand. Canelo is gonna make 10 million plus Dollars regardless against whomever he fights next. How much did Golovkin make his last fight. Less than a million, right?
Canelo was more than gracious enough to give him the split he gave him the last fight, when he didn't have to. Golovkin overplayed his hand thinking he could use public backlash to get Canelo's team to buckle on their initial agreement. Canelo has options. Plenty of options. What does Golovkin have. He just lost one of his leverage (IBF belt) and has no where to go.

What I'm saying is this. There are plenty of guys lining up for the Canelo Sweepsteak. CANELO DON'T NEED GOLOVKIN!

Apparently the current offer to Jacobs is not particularly good. I can't help feel that it's a (successful) tactic to get Golovkin to budge from his 50-50 demand.

Anyway we'll see. In my view both Canelo & GGG need to fight a top opponent (read Saunders, Derevyanchenko, Charlo, Jacobs, or each other) this year to make up for what happened in May. I don't mind particularly if they don't fight each other right away but a year without a good opponent while the rest of the division is waiting is indefensible.
