So glad that Kovalev doesn't have that punchers mentality

I think it's refreshing to see big punchers like Kovalev, GGG, and Rigondeaux who are fully aware of their punching power but still choose to box first as their main priority without relying on the KO.

Nowadays if you see any other fighter with this much power and KOs they'll fall in love with it and abandon boxing techniques. If anyone had seen Kovalev's interview before the fight he said that his main focus on how to beat Hopkins was to box and that the KO comes when it comes. It just shows that Kovalev really is a smart boxer who can use skills to back up the power and I think the more he fights like this the longer his career will be.

Yup. They have discipline and emotional control. Personally I think a win like this is more impressive than a 6th round knock out because you get to see the boxing skills and the devastating statement. Kovalev would beat hopkins at any time in his career just probably much worse than tonight because Hopkins would have been clowing earlier and talking more mess.

It's refreshing to see a new breed of boxer punchers that carry legit power but don't fall in love with it at the expense of everything else.

    Wlad is another example.
