    Interesting. Thanks:good.

First and foremost, I'm not claiming to be an expert when I mention this, but I have heard on a few occasions that black people also have an extra muscle in their legs that whites don't have. Is this true or a myth?

Whites seem to produce better swimmers and goal keepers as well; obviously not a coincidence after all after reading what you just wrote:think. As an aside, I shouldn't laugh, but I do find watching my own race sprint against blacks quite funny as there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that they are going to win or even look competitive:lol:. Run, white boy! RUN!!!

yeah thats cos black folks bones weigh more and also the water bounces off their heads, causing more drag in the water

Naw no extra muscle, its the first time I've heard that one. The general consensus is that the body has fast, slow twitch fibres and intermediate ones that can mimic either of the first two depending on how you train. When I was at uni there was tests done on a wide range of guys, but in general the black guys did have more fast twitch fibres, I cant remember the proportion cause it was 10 years ago, too many hits to the head and my memory is shite these days:oops: But it would be good to have further testing done on this subject. Someone sponsor me to do it and I'll crack on:cool:

Good to see Haye has some fast twitch fibres, rest of the British heavyweights seem to have fat twitch fibres.

Good point on the social factors, there are also theorys on the impact of the slave trade on physical ability as well.

Personally, I feel there may well be general trends between races but I think it is more to do with social and cultural factors than actual differences between races. If your body is made to do something from a very young age then it will adapt to that, likewise if generations of people have been enslaved and made to do hard physical labour they are going to adapt to that.

Enslavement has nothing to do with it...the vast, vast majority of the worlds population have over the centuries had to do hard physical labour to survive.
