So. . .HBO team was directly incriminating Roach to my ear. Anyone else think that?

It probably makes more sense when you factor in that Matthysse might well have felt he could not win fight, going into the Championship Rounds. Combine that with receiving what Matthysse himself implied was an eye injury and you have all the reason you need for him failing to make the count.

Regardless of the punches he was taking from Provodnikov, in his previous contest, Matthysse was in control of that fight. Victory was always within his grasp.

There may well be some other hidden reason for why Matthysse called it a day against Postol but, from where I'm standing, it looks fairly straightforward.

Postol was only 1 point ahead in 2 scorecards and mathysse was 1 point ahead in 1 scorecard, it's not like lucas was losing the fight blatantly. Not so straight forward imho.

The wildcard gym is well known for being an aggressive gym. They train offense, that's their thing. A lot of their defense is throwing shots and putting bad intentions to keep them guys off.. even Roy commented on how tough they become because of the killers they're facing in sparring. . They have world class punchers going at it on a regular basis. .
I was surprised how easily Postol shook some of those big shots off.. you could see they moved him but his eyes always stayed clear and he never lost focus for a moment. . A lot of potential there. . Can't wait to see him and Bud get it on. . Hella lot of talent in that match. .

Which means his more saintly twin, Troy Tempest, possesses infinitely more wit than Max could ever hope for.

Roach's combo of PED's, shot fighters and catch weights does wonders for fighter's careers. :hey

I know what the scorecards read. Did it really look that close to you? It didn't to me.

Besides - Matthysse wasn't to have known what was written on the scorecards, was he? It is more likely he thought he was behind on the cards.

Overcomplicate it all you like. Matthysse felt he couldn't win, caught an injury and decided enough was enough - it really is that simple.

 Tempest's eyes look more real than Kellerman's though. Max has weird bug eyes. He's a pretty suave dude though.

I actually agreed more with the one thinking that mathysse was winning the fight. So yes, I saw that close the fight. Mathysse took massive beating "for fun" (no belt) vs provo, and he quits vs armpunched jabs with a belt involved. Control doesnt matter s***. Simplify that as much as you want to, it's not that simple, you dont waste the opportunity of your life because of 3 or 4 armjabs. And for those saying that postol hits hard, I remember you that he knocked out nobody yesterday. This f@ggot just quitted.

They are in Stage 1 Denial because of all the weeks spent building up Matthysee as a killer over light hitting no power Postol. But isn't it amazing what using boxing skill and fighting smart can do?!

    Whatever...

I suspect most people saw Postol being ahead (probably by a wider margin than the official scorecards) and, if we take the 86-85 scorecards for Postol as the marker, Postol was about to go ahead 96-93 on two cards with two rounds to go, even if Matthysse had continued. So, look, you carry on thinking there's something fishy about his not making the count in the 10th, if you want.

Bottomline is that Matthysse made a decision, based on what he perceived was going on in the fight and picking up what he has already suggested was an eye injury. That's all there is to be said on it.

:yep But the only thing suave about Max is, therefore, the high gloss finish on his shoes... ...and a leather armchair ;)

Nobody complained when Mayweather did it to Canelo though.
