"It's going to be competitive either way....". Either guy can edge it. Most assume that Hopkins is a superior H2H fighter than Calzaghe so they assume that a past it Hopkins who's getting himself up for the fight can edge the fight with a slightly past it Calzaghe. So when Calzaghe dismantles him and stops him, I don't want to hear any nonsense other than deserved credit. I have said that Hopkins is old and that prime to prime it's competitive, but that now it's 100% Calzaghe's fight to win very impressively. So all of you picking Hopkins, or even thinking that he has a great chance had better come in here after the fight and issue the deserved credit for this up coming destruction. If anybody is picking Calzaghe to destroy Hopkins at this point and doesn't think the fight matters and doesn't want to issue credit, I have no problems with that at all, because at least you are being level. I just want people to man up for their predictions, not back track. I am sure not, I have Calzaghe TKO 8, if I'm wrong then come rub it in my face.:good
I personally won't be giving Joe huge credit, because I know this is going to be a blow out However, I have indulged myself in a bit of home cooking to make this worthwhile: This content is protected
Theres only two ways to look at this fairly, If Joe dismantles Hopkins (clear UD) hed be the first since RJJ to do it..Past it or not a win will elevate Joe to ATG status. Now heres the flipside...If Hops wins a clear or slightly close decision..at the ripe age of 43, looking so ordinary in his fights the last couple of years against good but not great opposition. There is no other way to describe Joe but a FRAUD. A loss like I mentioned will be indefensible. Now I think Joe will win..but part of me is wishing BHOP has one more great fight in him. Now if Joe wins very closely..ala Taylor..thats speaks volumes as well.
I just hope for a hell of a fight. I will be happy for whoever wins. I did make a pick though that is far from the popular likelihood, and I'll either be a genius tommorow night, or a complete ******. But damn straight I'll be here.
As a person who has recently changed his pick, despite all rationality and the fact I was picking Calzaghe TKO10 a few weeks ago, I will give Joe Calzaghe FULL CREDIT and publically praise him if he defeats Bernard Hopkins tonight. I will not use ANY excuses whatsoever, especially the 'Hopkins was old, prime for prime it's a different story' excuse. You have my word. Sincerely, Brooklyn1550 :yep
I think you are right. 8 rounds...yea maybe....or later or a decision. B hop will get outhustled, thats all.
Well only the level headed posters will give credit where credit is due. I will admit that I had underestimated Joe Calzaghe if he dominates, which is hard because I already have him maybe #2 or 3 P4P. I think you're really wrong though and will have to admit it after tomorrow. Hopkins is no dummy and has proven it time and time again. I think you're gonna need to take a break to clear your head from all this super-naturalness :nut
Whatever happens, I have mad respect for Hopkins' dedication to the sport; especially at his age. He could've comfortably retired a few years ago.
Oh I'm DEFINETLY gonna come back and rub it in your face.. You're way off.. Your love for Calzaghe has you blinded! You're like a woman in love!
I've picked Calzaghe to win forever, and my pick stays the same. Prime for prime, it is a different deal, I will say that now. At this stage, though I think it will be more competitive than some think, I think Calzaghe should win pretty handily. Calzaghe by UD, I'll hold out on the old late stoppage prediction because I think the pre-fight jitters are getting to me. As far as credit, it all depends on how Hopkins looks, but I have a feeling he'll look pretty good, just as he has recently, probably better, but not enough to hold off Joe at this stage.
In the end I just think Calzaghe's gonna be too much for Hopkins to handle. It'll go the distance but I can see the gap widening by the championship rounds. Joe will increase the pressure and Hopkins won't have any answers to it.
