If he was fighting out of Germany he'd be looked at as another Ottke (even though Ottke beat better fighters) but because he's from Canada he get's a pass and it becomes acceptable that he's 30 and his best win is over an injured journeyman.

Hopkins could still beat Bute, even at 47 years old. It'd be difficult and close, but Bute is very open for right hands and has a habit of giving up his height by bending forward. His reach isn't too long and his jab isn't exceptional.

Bute is not someone who just comes through the front door. He's got some flair to him, plus he can fight in the pocket and throw just as good a short punch as Hopkins can. His footwork and output ain't bad either.

If you're picking Bute to give Ward problems, then same goes for Hopkins IMO. Now, Hopkins and Ward are not identical, but I see a somewhat similar fight.
