He dominated the fight and won by late knock out, made Mayorga say no mas, so he looked better than did Mosleys win over Mayorga.
honestly though you can clearly see that Cotto did his home work he knew exactly how to get out of the way of that short looping right hand he knew exactly how to position himself to get out of range and right back in range to fire.

The guy needs to clinch some! ***** move or not, when you are in against a relentless fighter you need to stuff his rhythm or else just keep backing up and take punishment all night long.

Since his warrior pride doesn't allow him to clinch and slow a man down, he will keep losing to these relentless pressure fighters who won't stop throwing leather. His footwork is good but he doesn't have the upper body or head movement to keep eluding punches, so he needs to mix his D up with slipping, blocking and clinching. He just doesnt have the reflexes to withstand all that is thrown at him.

Mayorga faked that hand injury, still Cotto had too hard a time taking him out.

There was no hand injury....that was Mayorga's way out before getting put down again!!!

Also, Trinidad ate some leather fighting Mayorga and didn't Mayorga rock Oscar at one point.

When you fight Mayorga you are going to eat some punches because of the angles he throws from.
However, he still missed about 70 to 80% of his punches thown at Cotto.

Cotto looked good....didn't get bullied around and showed some improvements with some good stamina.

He put the bigger bully down with a left hook in the 12th.

I think many are being overly critical.

I see a Cotto win against Margarita!!!

Cotto looked so much better than Mosley against Mayorga. Miles better.

Its the weight of 154. He looked really small and was surprised that he had the power to drop mayorga in the last round like that.

Who's using this as an excuse?? because i sure as **** am not.

All i said was that Oscar, and Tito being better fighters, harder punchers, AND the bigger fighters saw them get Mayorga out of there earlier than Cotto did.

He looked fine. There's a lot of exxageration on how bad Cotto might have been.

Also, Mayorga really looked like he trained for this fight. He was throwing strong combos thru the championship rounds. Give Cotto credit, its not 2005 but he beats Margo hes in consideration for top 10 p4p again.

He sure as hell didn't lay on the ropes and let Mayorga tee off on him like Margo did..

Yeah, he looked better than Mosley did against Mayorga and I think Mayorga even trained harder for this fight.. Maybe because Cotto refused to brawl whereas Mosley did time to time and that's Mayorga's bread and butter..

Cotto fought a very controlled, disciplined fight. He avoided brawling, used his jab consistently, used his height well, showed an improved right hand, and improved foot work. He did not get caught with manny uppercuts, and when he did catch one he tucked his chin and rolled away from it quite well.

Mayorga came to fight. He was very well conditioned, and just as tough as ever. Cotto still won damn near every round. That's the good news.

The bad news is that I am still not sold on Cotto ate 154. He's just too small. He looked like a damn midget compared to Ricardo. I still think Cotto needs to move back down to 147.

Yea I feel like Cotto is to small for 154 also.

I thought he fought well and the fight was entertaining.

About Mayorga hurting his hand?? It was all bs. Even the replay showed he might have hurt it on the top of his head with a glancing blow but then he complained about the wrong hand.

Then in the interview he's waving his hands all over the place....
