Previously, I had created a poll about who would win the upcoming fight between the current reigning and defending IBF/WBO/IBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko and IBF Mandatory Challenger Alexander Povetkin. Now, I would like to ask how people see the fight unfolding and the result of the fight. Plus, indicate how their styles matchup and what the strengths/weaknesses are for both fighters and which fighter can better impose their strategy and thus win the fight.

I see Povektin coming out guns blazing trying to get inside throwing punches in bunches with wlad holding. I say around the 5th round when Povektin slows down just a tad, wlad starting to establish his jab around the 7th round I see wlad starting to take over and by the 9th or 10th the right hand will KO povektin. If Povektin were to win I would be very suprised

Povetkin needs to train for CARDIOVASCULAR endurance. This is why Sultan was able to last 12 against Wald. Getting inside and making it an ugly war is the key to Victory. Dont let him establish the jab, or dictate the action.

Wlad is a smart fighter with a weak chin, and things like a great reach, and the best HW jab since Lennox. But his main defense when he gets rocked is the clinch. Povetkin is about as accomplished an amateur as humanly possible. This means he knows the basics, solid, and knows how to both win and steal rounds. He is also a powerhouse, having lots of KOs and has beaten two accomplished boxers, in Byrd and Donald. If he keeps the fight inside, and can score punches without allowing Frankenstein to land any, and neutralize the jab, we have a new Champion.

Pretty much Povetkin getting hit with jabs and straights.

Throw in a few weak tie ups by Big Bad Wlad.

Then lights out as Povetkin is knocked out in round 8.

I was impressed with Povetkin's win over Chambers. Chambers is a very talented fighter. But, I think the only way Povetkin wins is if Wlad gets old over night, or doesnt feel like winning.

Funny how Wlad gets NO CREDIT for blowing out Byrd TWICE (always hear "byrd to small", "no power", "glorified CW" etc...) but the Povetkin lovers give povetkin all the credit in the world for beating Byrd

Can you spell : DOUBLE STANDARD!!!!!

I don't think both can be related here at all. Povetkin wasn't really expected to beat Byrd and was considered inexperienced, hell he wasn't even considered to win the IBF tournament and some people claimed it's ridiculous to put him there so early.

That's why Povetkin gets more credit.

How is the smaller Povetkin going to get close enough to let his hands go and score points? Wlad's reach along with his jab and right will make it difficult for him. Povetkin's going to have to take some chances to get close. Ibraginov wasn't willing to take that chance.

Wlad by late KO. Povetkin is the top contender in the world today and a great fight for Wlad. That being said, he doesn't have the power/punching ability needed to beat Wlad, however he has an effective smothering workrate which is always very good and his stamina is also excellent, unusual for a Heavyweight. His skill is also very good. Due to these two attributes (workrate, stamina) Povetkin has a shot at beating Wladimir, but he doesn't have the power to seal the deal, and he takes too many right hands.

Although he's been in there with light hitters, so maybe he has purposely let down his defense down a little bit, knowing they can't hurt him while being aggressive. Hopefully this is the case and it's a good fight. Povetkin should of taken a few more fights against top 15 fighters, the only top 15 guy he's fought has been Chambers.

He has the skillset and technique to get inside. Couple that with his fast hands and he will give Wlad trouble. Although Wlad's jab and right hand IS the key here and I expect a Wlad KO.
