just got done watching the fight.......:-( what a joke, clearly a robery!!!

On another note, Lara needs to work on that gas tank of his or he wont go to far in the game.

He's got potential, I really didn't expect him to batter and punish Paul the way he did. What a robbery, Paul was sitting in his corner looking dumbfounded in the late rounds. Congrats Lara, deja tu eso, la victoria es tuya.

What I like about Lara is the fact that when it was time to fight someone with a name he went about his business calmly and did not get fazed by how much bigger and taller Williams was to him and he proceeded to land big lefts all night. I was impressed by his level of composure and he showed more about his make up than maybe any progress ring wise. I believe he will do well against any fighter in his weight class because he knows the fundamentals of boxing.

He can become one of the best jmw's in the world in my opinion. He has the skill, the smarts, and the composure of a true champion.

if what he did last night wasnt impressive you are really hard to be impressed.
Only 2 people have previously beaten PW,and he took the first maravilla fight toe to toe winning a close decision but not excatly a flagrant robbery.
I wonder how your friend brewer will cope with PW.

I've liked him ever since I first saw him at about his 3rd fight or something. Hes got brilliant technical ability but needs to improve his stamina and polish off his own style. He still gives anyone at 154 a good fight though, and in my opinion beats most of them.

If he can learn how to fight inside, improve defensively when he's not on the move, improve his conditioning, and sharpen up his tools, he could be the best 154 pounder out there. He's already a contender, even with his style not having fully translated to the pro ranks.

Some skills, but he doesn't seem to be a "closer." He needs to learn how to follow a good left with another punch or two.

    - but I'm not sure if that can be learned. I think it's more of an innate personality thing.

this paul williams win is being slightly over rated... dude is good but paul williams obviously has a huge problem with "slick" lefties....

quintana basically did the same thing as lara last night

He was fighting a Light Heavyweight last night, he fought a smart fight and won but was robbed by the so called judges, what else do you want him to do? He beat Williams from pole to pole is not his fault that judges had fill out the score cards early that morning.

It's still early stages in the lad's career. He's got many more fights and many more wars to go through before we can properly gage his worth. His technical abilities seem very good to me, which is I suppose expected considering his amateur background. Regardless, as someone said earlier the boxing world has been very unkind to him recently. Hopefully these losses aren't taken TOO seriously by him.
