I boxed as an amateur. I think I could have made some noise. I worked with some pros. I really loved the sport, and I was pretty good. The problem, my Dad wasn`t all about it. I wanted to got to Goody Petronelli`s and train there to start a career. Wasn`t happening...I have so much respect for the courage it takes just to step inot the ring. Your average fun, just doesn`t get it.Boxers,(IMO) are the bravest of all athletes...
Trained for 7-8 months, joined the army, didn't box there, got discharged a few weeks ago after 2 years, getting back to training in Sept. Hope to have 5 fights by June.
I had 17 amateur fights.... won the Australian Boxing League Featherweight Championship title... silver medal at the state titles for feather and won a regional state title.
Has anyone else noticed that non of the **** talkers of ESB have posted. Those who like to call fighters quitters, pussies, etc, not one has posted their boxing resume. I guess it's easier to fight from behind the keyboard. By the way I don't box, just love the sport.:bbb
I'm a former NY State Golden Gloves Heavyweight Champ. I took silver in the '88 Olympics in Seoul and I'm a 2 time WBA Heavyweight Champion of the World. Oh, wait a minute...that's not me. I trained w/ the now infamous Buddy McGirt (maybe that's why I'm not a pro!) in my late teens and continued to spar into my early 20s. Got married, had a kid, got a desk job, put on 50 lbs and the rest is history. I'm 6'2" carrying around 255 pounds, about 35 lbs over my "ideal" weight. I can still crack but I'm too fat and slow now.
never been a boxer wish i had recently fell back in love with the sport after an absence from for far to long
Wayne, did u ever go to Goody's at all or no? I used to train there sometimes...at different times between 1986 and around 2005.
Just schoolboy stuff here, didnt have time for boxing and judo after I left school, and I was always much better at judo.
