On boxing news 24 theres a lot of people predicting their outcome for this fight and most dont give Toney a chance. Gotta say thats exactly what i've always thought - Couture will just take Toney down for a ground and pound or submission. Couture said as much in an interview - "I'm not going to stand with him, that would be stupid" he knows what hes going to do and it isn't box Toney. Is Toney going to be humilliated fast on saturday or do you reckon he's going to suprise us? King Mo admitted that Toney has submitted him once...and despite Toney saying he's going to box Couture he has been training to defend against take downs, and fight outside of the boxing game. But 6months in with no previous experience makes him a rank novice against a legend and vetran of the sport he's attempting to cross over into. Your predictions? Mine (and I hope I'm wrong) Couture TKO 1.
Couture will take Toney down quickly, Toney has a puncher's chance early and that is it. This should be in the MMA forum.
Yep. If Tony survives the first round (and that's a BIG if), his arms will be so tired from the grappling and Randy being on top of him, his punches won't even matter for the remainder of the fight. I hope I'm wrong though. Tony knocking him the fug out will be the best thing that happens in 2010.
I have a feeling what might actually happen. Toney will hurt Couture at the very start knocking him down...Toney will jump on him and probably find himself getting submitted/ground and pounded.
I dont see Toney's arms getting tired from grappeling. Boxing actually is a greater workout on your arms believe it or not, probably stamina wise too. Ive never felt pain and fatigue grappling like I have boxing. Even being in damn good shape, just holding ur guard up in boxing becomes a painful chore after a lil while if ur not conditioned for it. He wont get tired unless he gets hurt. If he loses though, I thinj it'll be a tap or tko stoppage. But Id say he has a decent punchers in winning.
Toney is like one of the last boxers I would have chosen to go into MMA. He's a guy who always did his work from close range, counterpunching. He was never a guy that would keep his opponents at a distance, that's the only kind of boxer I can think would have success in MMA. As soon as Couture gets close to him, he's going to take it to the ground and keep it on the ground, and likely submit him. This was such a stupid career choice for Toney.
