I understand what you mean, but I'm not just gonna neglect the weight room. I want to develop speed, power, AND mechanics.
I thought that he meant don't worry about trying to punch hard and fast, slow it down and develop your technique correctly. Why do you seem to think you're a ready made boxing superstar? Truthfully you're off your ****ing head and you need to come back down to earth. Don't take it so seriously and just enjoy learning boxing and training boxing, you'll develop quicker and have more fun if you just relax.
I agree 100%. In every sport, it takes YEARS to get down technique, and even then, everyone always has room to improve. I realize that, and I know that's realistic, but I like to give myself impossible expectations so I always have something to push for. I do enjoy the sport. And I enjoy the benefits of training to get better in my sport. I do take myself very seriously. I want to be the best boxer I can be, and I want to be in the best condition, I want to be the strongest, I want to be the fastest, and I want to be the most powerful. I will never settle for less. Will all of those actually happen? probably not, because there's always someone out there that's better, but I'll sure as hell try and make it happen. I'm not trying to be cocky or anything, and I'm not one of those people who takes it too seriously and can't have fun doing the sport (I can and do), but I will never settle for being weaker, slower, less powerful, or in bad condition. I do not want to have a single weak point in my arsenal.
What are you talking about? When have I ever even remotely said anything along the lines of "I'm a ready-made superstar"? I understand to be good it takes years of practice and hard work. Does me having high expectations for myself, and not settling for less make me cocky? It may seem that way to you, but I'm not. You may be satisfied with being a one-dimensional fighter, but I want to master every aspect of boxing. Am I at that level yet? As I said above, obviously not. But I WILL push myself until I reach that impossibly high level. As I already posted in this thread, here is the quote I basically live by: http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l8ooeiTVqL1qde29go1_500.jpg
Once again don't feel like writing a bible. I said it nicely before just enjoy the sport not trying to be the next mayweather. Stop making it sound like a ****in' full time job. Want to be the best? Then surely your a ****** for being here cause non of us here are anything close to the best and our opinion would only be an obstacle. I hate swearing but damn your the most annoying mother****ing beginner i've ever met in my life. FIRST TRAIN THE SPORT, SEE HOW MUCH YOU LIKE IT, THEN SEE IF WHAT YOUR SAYING NOW IS ALL HYPE. What the ****? You'll probably be one of those who quit after a swollen thumb for all i know.
Whatever you say man. People saying **** like this just motivates me to do better. You're completely misunderstanding what I'm trying to say, and you're confusing me wanting to be great with me THINKING I'm great. I don't see how me saying that I want to work my ass off until I'm the best is annoying...surely, anyone serious athlete trains to be the best, right? Never heard of an athlete who expects to be average.
Mate then what the hell are you doing? Instead of just learning technique u post some video with you doing some weird combination and instead of saying "oh lemme work on my technique alot more" you keep on saying "I want Powa! I want speed!" then you go "damn i wish i was higher, wish i had longer reach" seriously? Well yea i probably misunderstood, your trying to be the biggest troll. Almost got your award there
Putting all your eggs in one basket and trying to develop a variety of attributes isn't going to work, I'm afraid. It's good that you have a striving attitude and want to succeed, but just remember to think of it as a house, to quote the, uh, "great" Teddy Atlas; you build the foundation first, and then the rest from the ground up. You can't build the roof (speed, power) at the same time that you're building the base (technical fundamentals), because you'll just end up throwing shillings on your head and falling off your ladder (possibly over-training, neglecting fundamentals, and/or getting punished in sparring.)
Not even world champions have no weaknesses, and right now dude you have nothing but weaknesses so you just need to take it one step at a time and improve on one area at a time. Right now you can't even punch right unless you've improved since you posted that video so you just need to concentrate on listening to your coaches advice on the pads and then throwing the punch that he asks you to throw.
lol dude he is saying when you are throwing your punches right now, dont worry about throwing them hard or fast but rather focus on technique which is 100% RIGHT nothing to do with the weightroom so stop trying to sound like the back of a wheaties box
