I love MMA. But I will forever post a youtube video of it in this forum and on sherdog once a week. I would probably be banned from sherdog but hey **** that forum.
Checkout who's on number 17 in these Hw rankings?:rofl http://www.fightmatrix.com/mma-ranks/heavyweight-265-lbs/
All those guys stand a great chance at knocking him out. He will get too cocky and try to stand with them. He should possibly just retire and cut his losses.
It got as much attention as it did because a 48 year old, washed up, irrelevant boxer KO'd a former UFC champion who was ranked by many MMA publications as a top 10 HW. Not only that but everything was stacked against Mercer. A BS MMA promotion tried to screw him, Sylvia screwed him, they just simply tried to make money off Mercers name and further there "i hate boxing" agenda. And it all backfired. This fight will always be talked about because everything that MMA fans said would never happen, did happen.
I've been pretending for years that Tim Sylvia didn't exist - but this is the best thing he's ever done. He should get KTFO every month.
I can name 10 fighters in HW then Timmy. The only people who care about this fight are the MMA haters who have nothing better to do then troll MMA forums and talk about how easy it is to become a champ in the sport. This fight will be forgotten in a months time, this fight proves nothing.
Whether or not you can name them is irrelevant. Sylvia has only lost to great fighters in MMA. And the bottom line is the guys you would likely mention would be names like Lesnar, Cain, Carwin who have proven absolutely nothing in MMA. They would beat Sylvia, but that doesnt mean they should be ranked ahead of him at this point in their career. And this fight proved alot of things actually. And it definitely not will be forgotten in a months time.
Mercer knocked out Sylvia, boxing hasn't knocked out MMA which is how bias boxing supporters are seeing this fight. We'll probably see more boxers knock out MMA guys but at the same time there will always be MMA guys ground and pounding boxers and in the end what does this prove? TBH I couldn't personally care less about boxers knocking out mixed martial artists or vice versa and I just don't understand what the fascination is.
Sylvia lost 4 of his last 5 fights and couldn't stop Brandon Vera with a broken hand and Sylvia is a striker. There is many HW I consider ranked higher than him. Granted his record is 24-6 he is taking losses in a manner that he shouldn't be. He beat guys that were rated high but he has never fought guys like Barnett. AA was considered a big win but looking back now are they impressive? I am probably writing this as I am pretty disappointed in Tim Sylvia for just simply not thinking.
