My trainer just said he has a fight lined up for me at 151 on July 10th. Is it really possible to make that weight in that short amount of time? :think

If you fight at 151lbs why do you currently weigh 173lbs?

I think a lot of it depends on you. I couldn't cut 20 pounds in a month. But I know a couple of guys who could do that easy.

Depends on what the weight is (water, fat or are you lean at 173?) & how easy you generally take it off, some people find it much easier than normal

You took the past 6 months off, you're "a little loose around the edges" (at 5'7 173 pounds I'd call that very loose around the edges unless you're built like a tank), you've got less than a month to drop 20 pounds and prepare.... And you're taking this fight, why?

Also, why don't you ask your trainer about these kinds of things? That's what he's there for...

Any more than 2lbs per week is considered 'unsafe' and you won't have any energy.

I don't know why your traininer would even consider having someone lose that much weight so fast. There will be other fights later on or at a more realistic weight.

yeah that doesnt make sense that he is scheduling you a fight so soon when you have been inactive for half a year. he should have either given you more notice or found a different fight.

you are doing this just for fun right? why is he in such a rush for this

this is a question only you can answer. How can we possibly tell you when we don't know your diet, training routine, body fat % etc etc etc...

when was the last time you weighed 151, i think that is the best indication and are you overweight....

I've been training 6 hours a day for 2 months now, and i've dropped from 174 to 155. I eat around 1500-1700 calories a day. I wouldn't do it if I were you.
