Unfortunately USA is still the centre of the boxing universe so it does tend to be that way.

The problem is the fractured belts. If there was one unified Champ then no-one would have a choice but to go to the Champs backyard to get the title.

God almighty dude I know what your trying to say but thats not how to go about it

America has more fighters , more gyms , more money in the casinoes etc , thats why !

A true great world champion shouldnt be afraid to travel I agree but US fighters do have more of an excuse to do that than do Europeans. For now anyway

Obviously it was surpassed by the bigger fish on this side of the Pond. Bottom line Europe or no other Country can attract the big fights like Vegas.

Where you fight doesn't matter, niether for americans nor for europeans. It's who you fight that matters. If you beat the best that the world has to offer it doesn't matter if you do it on Mars or in your old high school gym, provided that home town judges and refs are fair and unbiased and you actually deserve the win.

how many of the big fights in the states actually get sold out unless there is a british/european fighter fighting, apart from kelly pavlik who else gets a big following,i mean even pbf had to postpone the fight with marquez to sell more tickets, attendances in britain and europe far out way any in the states

    This is not the reason.
It is beacause the states has the biggest T.V. viewing public.

I'm not even sure if that is correct anymore. What the US defines as big is usually based on fighters that are popular there, in the same way that a fight that is big in Europe is often given that status because it contains fighters that are popular here. Many of the German fights (especially the Klitschko's recent bouts) and Calzaghe up until recently drew far larger crowds than anything has done in the US for a long time. Many of the fights are on terrestrial TV here and get millions of viewers...what were the figures for Wlads last fight?

The best argument is that the P4P fighters tend to fight in the US, but it says something if the viewing figures are greater here for non-P4P bouts than they are for US fights with the P4P guys in.

Anyway, as it stands the US is still the centre, it has the most well respected trainers and the majority of boxers want to go there. But it's blatantly obvious that Germany is catching up due to the effort they put into their bouts.

    I agree with this.

Ultimately who you fight is more important than where you fight.

If a Euro fighter fights the best out there but only fights in his own country then he shouldn't be regarded less than an American fighter who fights the best out there but only fights in America.

However, i do like a fighter a bit more if he is prepared to fight in his opponents back yard.

I think american boxing fans (myself included) are beginning to realize that we aren't what we think we are with respects to boxing significance/importance.

Like people said its a case of the big money being over there, big casinos, big tv deals ect.

But also USA is a much bigger place, and fighters fighting outside their hometown often wont have much more support than a UK fighter fighting in the States.

Mosley is from the US, but he wasn't fighting at home when he fought at MSG against Cotto. Did Mayweather have more support than Hatton?
