So if Calzaghe retires, Were does he stand in the All-Time list ?

44 yrs old and he doesn't know enough to say Calzaghe is NOT a top 50 (to be on the safe side) fighter of all time?

I disagree, but this is as sound a basis for having Calzaghe top 100 as I have heard. No Calzaghe worship, no bias, no infantile and unjustified overratings, just some valid points well made. For me, Pryor would be slightly ahead of Calzaghe in p4p terms because IMO Pryor is a better lww h2h than Calzaghe is a smw (Jones would embarrass Calzaghe at 168, no-one, not even Whitaker could beat Pryor that comprehensively at 140), and because Pryor's 1st win over Arguello is a vastly superior win to anything on Joe's resume. But it's very close between them, as Joe has points in his favour over Pryor too (longevity, two-weight success), so if I ever did write a 100 they may both sneak in. Two guys in the same 'tier' IMO.

 

Even though JC beat both Hopkins and RJJ, he would clearly be ranked lower on the ATG list that either of them. At first glance I would rank him between 75-100.

 

IMO he doesn't quite make the cut.

Just outside the top 100 (but of course this is just a guess; I haven't done a top-100 list either; anywhere between 80 and 120 seems fine to me and I won't argue the case).

 

Calzaghe's my favorite contemporary fighter, but top 20 all time?? That's insane.

Now this doesn't include the many many great fighters from before the last 80 years, and I personally would not rank Joe Calzaghe higher than Mike McCallum, who is 79th on this list, so (even though I do NOT agree with the order of this list at all) I'm sure you can see how it perfectly possible or plausible that Calzaghe would not make many peoples' top 100.

Is 46-0 and still strong at the age of 36,
Due to him being the best smw I have him being in the top 20-25 without a doubt.
Also with the amazing speed he has at his weight class is nothing short of genius.
There never has and never will be a fighter with the same hand speed at lhw or even smw.
And saying dawson beats him is just like saying lacy is the next tyson and will ko calzaghe,
Dawson = the next lacy if he fights him.

 

You said top 20 though - where's your 20? Let's see it.
