it depends on how well kessler does in his future to show where joe stands.
i hope kessler does not throw most of his career away like calz did.
if kessler dominates from mw to lhw which i think he will then calzaghe will shoot up the rankings.

nearly 25% of you said hes in the top 50 :-(

I dont have him making it, but it wouldnt be outrageous if he was, but if he is in hes no lower than 80, anything lower is delusional.

You misunderstand. Calzaghe's performance in the Byron Mitchell fight was excellent (he was KD'd, but he was the better man before the KD and the better man after), what I was referring to was that this one good performance does not constitute a 'career peak' because of the performances around this one, ie the performances immediately before and after this fight (a poor performance in a points win over Jiminez and the Pudwill fiasco before, and the stoppage of Mkrtchian and a poor performance against Salem after).

    50-75

Achievements alone get him that high, not including his ability to fight like a windmill and the boxing IQ.

At this point, he's near the top of the 75-100 range in my mind. That could get better or worse though. If Kessler cleans out 168, that improves his standing. If Kessler loses his next decent fight, he probably drops some. If Bika can become a dominant force, that probably helps him as well. Hopkins and Jones are old enough that they probably won't change his standing much, and Lacy has already proven that he's not as good as we thought he was when they fought.

However, I might be underrating him a hair. I've never put together my own top 100 list, so I might just be thinking there are a lot of better guys out there than there actually are. He's probably around the same level as Dariusz Michalczewski or Khaosai Galaxy.

With the passing of time Joe Calzaghes ATG standing will rise as people begin to appreciate just what a superb fighter and competitor he was. It`s one thing to get to the top but to stay at the top for so long takes a fighter with a special mind set.

i can see arguments for him being in the top 25 of all time and arguments why hes in the top 100. stylistically he is the best fighter out there at the moment, until anyone else attempts to copy his style, or has the endurance to copy his style you can really compare him.

Do you realize how many outstanding fighters there have been in history?
