Quite obviously, DLH was banging on about a potential Canelo-Chavez trilogy a month or so ago (for which read if the fight is remotely close and makes him enough money, they will find some angle, injury or something, to justify a rematch).

Ergo, whilst I agree about the heavy schedule, there is no way GGG can be blamed for refusing to put all his eggs in the Canelo basket and taking a chance to unify all four belts if it arises. Worst case scenario if he does get cut or something, Canelo is only 26, the fight will keep for a few more months and if he loses then Saunders becomes the new big fight. I don't see the problem.

 

BJ is already a good boy. He just doesnt know it.

 

The chance of Canelo losing or getting injured in the meantime is much bigger as Golovkin, and having GBP screwing up his year for the second time is Ludacris!

Nobody but the biggest trolls and Canelovers see this as a serious problem, instead of a bullshirt way out for the underdog.

Fighting Saunders, a guy with two solid wins at MW and who many on here thinks beats or gives Canelo a lot of trouble, and holds the last piece of the undisputed MW crown. Fighting that guy instead of Canelo who has nothing going for him credibility wise at 160 other than how many blindly loyal Mexican fans he brings is a duck?

Abel says if GGG unifies in June and Canelo doesn't want the fight in September they will be vacating 160 and go to 168 to unify.

Canelo vs GGG is losing its appeal. It's been dragging for too long and GGG has lost a step according to his last match. I'd rather see GGG vs Saunders and then take on the big boys at 168.

 

DLH might be thinking he wants to save Saunders for a unification fight if Canelo beats GGG.

That would make it 3 big fights in a row for his highest earner.
