Golden Boy was talking stupid. A simple response would be "we don't have a contract from you. Let's get it signed and we won't fight til September with Canelo"

I was a big fan of Oscar the fighter and believe he's a great promoter, however even I can see he's been the one protecting Canelo from GGG. And the latest stuff with him saying GGG isn't a big enough PPV draw, so he will need to essentially offer GGG less money, seems pretty blatant that he's throwing up another road block to Canelo. Obviously GGG is a machine and has a very good chance of beating canelo and that is simply not good for Oscar's business. You can't really blame him for wanting to protect Canelo and the business but the fighter side of him knows that fight needs to happen. The problem is the fighter in him obviously feels canelo won't stand much of a chance and that isn't good for the promoter.

Yes, unify and move on without Canelo if they have to. I get what's happening but Canelo being pampered and protected kind of makes my stomach turn because he's no Floyd, Oscar, Jones etc. He's just a solid champ during a weaker era and he's already been defeated ffs.

Don't get what you're trying to say here, so in your opinion only the elite should get "pampered"?

Also, all fighters get soft touches now and then but Canelo a has the likes of FLoyd, Trout, Cotto, Lara and Smith, to name a few on his resume; you'd have to be highly critical to call that a pampered resume.

I have had with DLH and SA to the point where I hope this fight never happens and SA is forever branded a coward.

Agree. I also think Saunders outboxes Canelo to a SD (Oscar has 1 judge obv.)

This conversation will be moot after Jr. Clobbers Canelo to sleep with that left hook!

I just dont see how Jr can win. Canelo's speed and accuracy will be too much. He'll get stopped to the body. And I dont want Jr to win. Regardless of what happens with the negotiations for a Fall fight between Canelo and GGG. I dont like Jr, and I still kinda like Canelo. Been his fan for a long time, before he was ever champion, so its hard to forget that. Will root for him in this fight, and probably any fight except the GGG fight if it ever happens. Would've rooted for him if he didnt vacate though. That was so weak and lame. Real champions dont vacate so they dont fight their mandatory.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Jr. is going to be primed and ready for this fight. Jr. loses he's done contending at the top. He knows this and I believe he will be ready and in great shape to go the full 12 if need be. Jr's chin and durability, along with that left hook will carry the night. Canelo is by far the more skilled fighter ,but I think the size along with the chin and power will be too much for Canelo.

I could totally see you being right.....the thing is...the durable guy with the chin can be taken out of his game by the more skilled fighter if the skilled fighter fights the right way.....ie think back to the way cotto fought the 2nd time around against margarita....or the way shane did.....a little of the first 6 of cotto/margarita 1....mix in with a little of cotto/margarita 2 and a few pinches of shane/margarita

I think Cotto and Mosely move better than Canelo. Also Jr. hits a lot harder than Margarito and has a great left hook to the body. Look at the war of attrition Canelo had with Kirkland. If Jr can get Canelo in a fight like that then his chances of winning increase exponentially. I don't think Canelo can drop Jr like he did Kirkland. I just see this as a bad match up for Canelo.
