Povetkin is the IBF mandatory, but he wants another tune-up before fighting Wlad, so will the IBF not enforce Wlad to fight Povetkin?

If it was Povetkin who doesn't want the fight . . . how can IBF enforce it? The best that IBF can do is ask the fighter rated next to Povetkin to step in if they are to stick to their rule book.

Chef would be the person to ask. But by rules, Povetkin loses his place as the IBF mandatory. He balked out first time because of Injury, and the second for beliving Teddy Atlas was his long lost american father. This would than put Arreola as the mandatory. Maybe there can be exceptions-but regardless I think the fight will happen-at this point the only belt in boxing that has any merit is the ring belt-and at this stage in his career Wlad is more content with fighting the best fighters and building his legacy rather than pleasing the sanctioning bodies.

    :?

Why will Wlad apply for exception when it was Povetkin who doesn't want the fight now?

    :think

Why would they punish Wlad because Povetkin says he needs more time?

That is not Wlad's fault and we have already been down this road before Povetkin was supposed to fight Wlad last December but pulled out with an injury.

Wlad can take on the next available highest rated fighter in the IBF (again) to fulfill his mandatory obligations. Povetkin waits another year... obviously he wants to anyways.

But Povetkin probably wants to fight Wlad next year and Wlad is more willing to fight Chambers this year.

It's not true-IBF has a deadline-I believe it's either September or October for the fight to take place-if it doesn't because Povetkin isn't ready then there shouldn't be any issues in fighting chambers.

If the mandatory challenger which is Povetkin is already asking for the posponement of his mandatory fight then Wlad doesn't need to . . . not unless IBF declares the next inline to make the mandatory challenge. :good

But Arreola wants to fight either Vitali or Maskev, I guess the IBF rankings will have to go down to the #3 spot and that would be Eddie Chambers. Seriously though IBF rules are riduclous, even more riduclous than WBC, Wlad should keep his belt.

I don't think Arreola wants Vitali. Might go with Maskeav

Be interesting if he would fight chambers to forfill both mandatorys. Would work out nice that way, then he could pick someone after to fight.

The IBF should give Chambers spot 1.

Povetkin pulls out in 2008 and one year mandatory? Povetkin wants a tune up. Wlad should fight Chambers.

The contender is not ready and the Champion had to wait? I cannot believe it. The IBF should be careful about $$$$$$$ from Sauerland.

Chambers deserves spot 1 also by the IBF.

Vitali is not fighting in September, so Wlad should go for the September/October date.
