The casual fan is one of the main reasons why this FMJ-MP fight not happening is such a disaster.... not only has boxing lost a lot of solid fans, its also threw away the chance to gain millions more.... as I keep saying, those 2 pussies should be totally ashamed of themselves, they have hurt the sport that made them rich & they dont give a ****.

 

yeah, i got the well cotto beat clottey and paq beat cotto. i said thats why u know nothing about boxing. why u say that ? it happens all the time i had to explain frasier beat ali ali beat foreman then foreman beat fraiser , then the taylor ,pavlik,and hopkins scenario. i had to explain that styles makes fight and how clottey is a real good fighter and i think he will give paq alot of problems this will not be a walk in the park.

 

I was talking with some co workers about the fight that aren't really big boxing fans and they remember Clottey from fighting Cotto on Hbo. They also all said he got robbed in that fight and should of won. But when I bring up names like Bradley, Campbell, and Yuri Foremen, they don't know who the hell I'm talking about. The only reason they know Malignaggi is because of his fights with Juan Diaz, and before that no one knew who he was.

 

Happened to me the other day as I was listening to the radio. The guy was "100% sure" that the fight would happen and Pac wouldn't waste his time with some "tomato can." So I texted the show to tell him that Clottey really wasn't a tomato can. His response: "dude, you're the only one who is watching the fights on Friday nights, or whatever it is!"

I can understand how a casual person on the street could see Clottey as a bum, and I can even understand how this guy wouldn't have heard of Clottey, but to call him a "tomato can" when he has no knowledge of the sport of boxing or anything about Joshua Clottey (said he heard his name the first time the other day) when you're getting paid to speak to people is ridiculous in my opinion.

 

Well, even a casual fan knows that Clottey isn't going to do **** against PAC, its a given. He's a good fighter, but we all know he already loss against PAC so saying that he's a bum in this case makes no difference. He's strong as an ox, but he won't know how to handle PAC's speed. This will be a replay of the Cotto fight.

 

I'm impressed that people even know that much. I can't talk boxing with anybody I know except for my trainer. People at work ask me about Pacquiao Mayweather just because it was ESPN. Other than that the only name people know is Oscar De La Hoya.

 

Bottom line is, boxing does not enjoy the popularity of other sports. So its stars that are less than A+ is virtually unknown to the mainstream no matter their skill level. There is a big gap between the popularity of ODLH, Pac and PBF versus all other boxers.

This has nothing to do with 'ducking', 'roids', 'cherry picking' etc.

 

I was actually talking to a couple of friends (other friends that aren't Boxing fans) and they were saying it's a pretty tough test for Pacquiao. I was surprised to hear them say that. They said they have seen in fight a couple of times. (Chico and Cotto) Aside from that though the casual fan doesn't know **** because the media doesn't talk about it. Boxing is doing damn damn damn well considering there is no media coverage. If the media switched Boxing and Basketball. Basketball would be dead like Hockey and Boxing would be at a the level of (American) Football. (In the States that is)

 

The general public's ignorance on the subject of Joshua Clottey is exactly why Arum should be working to secure HBO's coverage of this fight. A 24/7 would help tremendously.

 

But that's how it looks to "Mainstream America and even abroad".

Pacquiao walks away from a fight with THE MOST SKILLFUL FIGHTER HE WOULD HAVE EVER FOUGHT....JUST TO FIGHT JOSHUA CLOTTEY????

I can't believe the PASS Pacquiao gets.

And I guarantee you...This fight...before its all said and done...will be at a catchweight. We are talking about fighter (Clottey) who has been known to rehydrate for fight night to 161lbs (on two occasions).

A lot of casual fans I know think pac is on something for not wanting to fight mayweather. Casual fans I know don't even know who pac is fighting. Today I heard a filipino tell me pac is fighting a white guy.

 

Its amazing how "all of you" (posters) want to hold "Casual Fans" to some higher standard because they don't know Joshua Clottey.

But have NO problem with these same "Casual Fans" LIES, CRITICISM, EXAGGERATION AND "MADE-UP" ACCUSATIONS IN COMMENTS, POST AND THE 20-30 SHITTY THREADS A DAY!!!!:-(
