Jacobs did better in the Alvarez fight than i initially remember. Although Alvarez looked better to begin with not many of his punches were actually landing. Jacobs hit him clean quite regularly in the last half of the fight. Like in tennis with Federer and Djokovic, Jacobs would have a better place in history had he not been in the same place and time as GGG and Alvarez
It was a competitive fight...but it wasn't close. 7-5 or 8-4 with a solid , good looking knockdown. I really , really hate when the significantly bigger man fights a negative fight. Jacobs was taller, longer, heavier, faster and overall better athlete... but instead of using these advantages to try to win, he used them to survive.
Closer fight than many will admit. Good fight though. Ggg getting the win was the right decision though.
Calling Jacobs is dumb, as is claiming that It was a one sided fight by any means. 6-6 or 7-5 GGG were the correct scorecards.
"Serious boxing fan like myself" ... don't make laugh, your a sap of the highest order Even Oscar wouldn't want you as a fan...lol
This post will of course trigger many people, but I completely agree. Power punchers and fighters with blistering hand speed seem to get over hyped and very few live up to the hype when matched against other top fighters. The truth is that the guys who manage these fighters are no dummies... you see your guy has exceptional "X" ability...then proceed to hand select opponents that they match up favorably against and try to throw in some "big" names on the downside of their careers.
How would you know...he missed the last weig in before fight...unless you're getting confused when he fought canelo...
