So in a nutshell, can somone explain why Abraham vs. Pavlik hasn't freakin happened?

  1. Why?

Thats just ****ing dumb and this kinda **** pisses me off about boxing..

The best should fight the best, imagine if Ali didn't fight Fraizer, or Holyfeild didn't fight Qawi....etc... those are just 2 good examples. There are many more.

They are the top 2 best, and they havent even had any talks at all?(lest to my knowledge)

Who should we point the finger at for this fighting not happening?

According from Kelle Sauerland (remembering off the top of my head, he was speaking on Steve Bunce's show several months back) they have lots of 'talks' and Sauerland had put several offers to Top Rank.

  5. So i guess Arum is to blame right?

What a farce. I hate these ****in promoters. Most of them at least.

He needs to stop being a *****. And its not like Pavlik sucks balls and doesn't have no chance.... I see this as a 50/50 fight in my opinion.

This fight could be big right now. Arum needs to put his bull**** aside and make it happen. we know AA wants the fight. Pav needs to talk to his people and say make the fight.

It's his call after all and if he really wants he can get it. There's nobody else you want to see either man face at welter.

Sauerland thinks Pavlik should take the small money. Arum thinks that the little known German should raise his US profile, and that The Champ should get the big end of the money. Sauerland likes to talk. It's a good way to keep Arthur's name in the news, because opponents like Oral and Simon don't generate much interest, so they keep AA in the news by yapping about Pavlik. That's pretty much it.

Once bitten, twice shy. Arum thought after how Hops looked in the Calzaghe fight, that Kelly could build his rep off of being the first man to knock Hopkins out and was so eager to do it that they chased Hopkins up in weight for the fight. He got bit. Arum's matchmaking (or lack of it) ever since reflects that. He wants to keep milking Pavlik with gimme defenses before he'll put him in another risky fight. Pavlik would take the Abraham fight- but I fear it's not ever going to make "business" sense for Top Rank.

It's also because there aren't enough good opponents for both of them as proven already with Pavlik's pathetic title defenses. They have been mentioning Pavlik for a very long time, it didn't start recently to build their names. It was Abraham/Taylor that was supposed to happen if you forgot but the jaw injury, surgery and being forced to stay inactive and also being forced by the IBF to have an easy fight first before going for Taylor is what pushed him out of the picture temporarily. During that time the division didn't freeze, Miranda eventually got another chance but had to get past Pavlik, he failed and Pavlik got his shot as promised, the same title shot that was promised for Abraham. Ever since and Abraham has been desperately trying to get the title shot he earned the same way Pavlik earned by beating the same fighter Abraham beat already.

Fact is and I have to repeat, Pavlik doesn't have enough decent opponents in the division unless they consider Paul Williams. Apart from that who else does he have?, if Abraham moves up he will be forced to move up sooner or later as the fights available at middleweight don't offer the amount of money/attention he will be looking for.

It's all about $, if the amount of money isn't right then interesting fights the fans deserve to watch don't happen. In the end, it's all about the cash, these guys don't put their lives on the line for praises from unknowns on the internet or in bar discussions.

Its simple. Abraham and his people have made several offers to Pavlik and his team and called him out on live tv and Pavlik and hsi team are plain ducking AA.
