Canelo is the same size if not bigger than GGG, it's just his youth allows him to cut weight easier. On a fight night, he is heavier.

I believe that Golovkin was at JWW at 19 too. What difference does the ancient history make. Cotto claims to be a lineal MW champion and needs to be shown that he is just a B+ level fighter at MW.

 

Don't forget that Ward's last fight was at LHW, closer to 175 than to 168, so they have a legitimate right to call him out.

 

His act is getting tiring, nobody is moving up to fight him, forget about that. There's no point in even talking about it.

He should just stay in his weight class and shut up about Golovkin, then nobody will talk about Kovalev or Stevenson for whom he is surely not going to move up for , he thinks he'll have it easy by beating up smaller guys for big cash, lol doesn't work that way.

It's never that simple. When Ward came out with the offer it didn't look good, I must admit and it did seem as if GGG didn't want the fight, but I did say that we needed to hear Golovkin's side of this and we needed to know more about the offer Ward submitted.

Golovkin's promoter has now responded. He says that Ward is incorrect, and that while it was a 50/50 split it was not offered until after that had already announced the fight with Lemieux and not before as Ward had previously stipulated.

The offer was for a fight in 2016 after both had a fight earlier in that year. So the fight would have taken place after Golovkin had debuted on PPV and also likely beaten the winner of Cotto/Canelo. In that scenario it's possible that Golovkin having fought twice on PPV would deserved more than a 50/50 split.

Looking at it this way, I can see why Golovkin refused the fight for a 50/50 split because he would be in a far stronger position to negotiate at a later stage instead of before 2 crucial fights that could alter each fighters bargaining position.

 

He won't move up to fight Kovalev, and when he won't, the same guys like you who bashed GGG for the longest will be defending Ward.
